Job summary

SGB MY, part of the SGB-SMIT Group, is seeking a Transformer Service Engineer for on-site work in Seremban, Malaysia. You will perform field service on power and distribution transformers, including installation support, commissioning, routine and corrective maintenance, and at customer sites.

You will diagnose technical issues, carry out troubleshooting, prepare service reports, and coordinate with internal teams and customers while travelling regularly to sites.

Qualifications

• Strong troubleshooting skills for transformer-related electrical and mechanical issues.
• Hands-on field service experience, including on-site inspections and commissioning.
• Experience with maintenance and repair of transformers or similar high-voltage equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and test reports.
• Effective communication with customers and internal teams.
• Willingness to travel regularly for on-site service.

Role Description The Transformer Service Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Seremban. This role involves performing field service activities for power and distribution transformers, including installation support, commissioning, routine and corrective maintenance, and repair work at customer sites. The engineer will diagnose technical issues, carry out troubleshooting, and provide timely technical support to ensure reliable transformer operation. Daily tasks include preparing service reports, coordinating with internal teams and customers, ensuring adherence to safety standards, and supporting continuous improvement of service processes. The position requires regular travel to customer facilities and close collaboration with operations, quality, and engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Strong troubleshooting skills for transformer-related electrical and mechanical issues.
• Hands‑on field service experience, including on‑site inspections, testing, and commissioning.
• Proficiency in technical support activities, including diagnosing faults and recommending corrective actions.
• Experience in maintenance and repair of transformers or similar high-voltage equipment.
• Effective communication skills for interacting with customers, internal teams, and external stakeholders.
• Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
• Knowledge of transformer design, protection systems, and relevant industry standards and safety regulations.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and test reports.
• Willingness to travel regularly for on‑site service work and work in outdoor/industrial environments.
• Previous experience in the power utilities, industrial electrical, or transformer manufacturing sector is an advantage.
