Job summary

Comet Technologies Malaysia Sdn Bhd in Penang seeks an experienced technician to support testing and calibration of plasma-control equipment used in semiconductor manufacturing. You will perform product testing, troubleshoot failures, and read schematics to support setup and maintenance.

The role requires a Technician Diploma with 5+ years in electronics or semiconductor equipment, strong knowledge of RF components, oscilloscopes, multimeters, LabVIEW, and C++.

Qualifications

• Technician Diploma with at least 5 years in semiconductor equipment manufacturing or related electronics environment.
• Strong knowledge of semiconductor equipment, RF matching networks, RF generators, and test instruments.
• Proficiency in LabVIEW and C++, plus Excel automation/macros; SAP and MES are a plus.
• Analytical, troubleshooting and root-cause investigation skills; able to read schematics.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts and overtime in a fast-paced plant.

Responsibilities

In the Plasma Control Technologies (PCT) division, we manufacture specialized components that are required for the precise control of plasma processes and are used in the production of memory chips or touch screens for sensors, smartphones or tablets.

What You Will Do

• Perform product testing activities in accordance with production work instructions, ensuring products meet quality, safety, and manufacturing standards.
• Troubleshoot test failures, perform debugging and minor repairs, and support failure analysis to identify root causes and minimize production downtime.
• Operate, maintain, and calibrate test equipment and fixtures while ensuring compliance with 5S standards and preventive maintenance requirements.
• Read and interpret schematics, assembly drawings, and technical documentation to support testing, troubleshooting, and equipment setup.
• Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives while collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance production efficiency and product quality.

What You Bring

• Technician Diploma with at least 5 years of experience in semiconductor equipment manufacturing or a related electronics manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing equipment, particularly RF Matching Networks, RF Generators, and electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes and multimeters.
• Proficiency in LabVIEW, C++, Excel automation/macros, with experience in SAP and MES considered an advantage.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret technical drawings, perform failure analysis, and support root cause investigations.
• Self-motivated, quality-driven team player with excellent communication skills, a continuous improvement mindset, and the flexibility to work rotating shifts and overtime in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
