Job summary

Comet Technologies Malaysia Sdn Bhd in Penang seeks a Production Manager to lead daily operations, drive Lean and Six Sigma initiatives, and develop high-performance teams for high-tech manufacturing.

You will collaborate with Planning, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain to ensure smooth line flow and successful transitions from development to mass production. This role offers hybrid work options and diverse career opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical/Industrial/Automation Engineering or related field required.
• 10+ years of manufacturing management experience, preferably in semiconductor/high-tech manufacturing.
• Strong track record in SQCDP, productivity, cost optimization and hitting targets.
• Proven expertise in Lean, Six Sigma, continuous improvement, and NPI-to-mass production transitions.
• Strong leadership, problem solving, and stakeholder management with English communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage daily production operations to ensure safe, efficient, and timely delivery while hitting KPIs.
• Drive Lean, Six Sigma and 6S initiatives to improve productivity and reduce costs.
• Develop and manage production teams, fostering accountability and high performance.
• Collaborate with Planning, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Warehouse, Supply Chain, and other functions to ensure smooth flow.
• Support NPI, line setup, troubleshooting, and corrective actions for mass production transitions.

Production Manager

In the Plasma Control Technologies (PCT) division, we manufacture specialized components that are required for the precise control of plasma processes and are used in the production of memory chips or touch screens for sensors, smartphones or tablets.

What You Will Do

• Lead and manage daily production operations to ensure safe, efficient, and timely delivery of products while achieving production targets, quality standards, and operational KPIs.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives by implementing Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 6S practices, and process optimization strategies to improve productivity and reduce operational costs.
• Manage and develop production teams, fostering accountability, collaboration, and a high-performance culture to achieve manufacturing goals.
• Collaborate closely with Planning, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Warehouse, Supply Chain, and other supporting functions to ensure smooth production flow and prevent line disruptions.
• Support new product introduction (NPI), production line setup, troubleshooting activities, and corrective actions to ensure successful transition from development to mass production.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related technical field, with extensive manufacturing leadership experience.
• More than 10 years of manufacturing management experience, preferably within the semiconductor or high-tech manufacturing industry, with proven experience managing large production teams.
• Strong track record in driving manufacturing performance through SQCDP, productivity improvement, cost optimization, and achievement of operational targets.
• Proven expertise in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, continuous improvement methodologies, process optimization, and managing NPI-to-mass production transitions.
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate effectively in English and collaborate across global and local teams.
