Job summary

Comet AG in Penang is seeking a technically skilled technician to support testing, calibration and troubleshooting of semiconductor equipment used in memory chips and sensors. You will interpret schematics, operate RF hardware, and contribute to Lean manufacturing improvements.

The role requires a Technician Diploma with 5+ years in high-tech manufacturing, with strong LabVIEW, Excel automation and RF knowledge. Hybrid working arrangements and a global team are offered.

Qualifications

• Technician Diploma with at least 5 years of experience in semiconductor equipment manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing equipment, particularly RF components.
• Proficiency in LabVIEW, Excel automation/macros; SAP and MES knowledge is an advantage.
• Analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with ability to read schematics and drawings.

Responsibilities

• Perform product testing activities according to production work instructions and standards.
• Troubleshoot test failures, perform debugging and minor rework, support root-cause analysis.
• Operate, maintain, and calibrate test equipment and fixtures, ensure 5S compliance.
• Read schematics and documentation to support testing and equipment setup.
• Support Lean Manufacturing and cross-functional improvement initiatives.

In the Plasma Control Technologies (PCT) division, we manufacture specialized components that are required for the precise control of plasma processes and are used in the production of memory chips or touch screens for sensors, smartphones or tablets.

What You Will Do

• Perform product testing activities in accordance with production work instructions, ensuring products meet quality, safety, and manufacturing standards.
• Troubleshoot test failures, perform debugging and minor rework, and support failure analysis to identify root causes and minimize production downtime.
• Operate, maintain, and calibrate test equipment and fixtures while ensuring workstations comply with 5S and equipment maintenance requirements.
• Read and interpret schematics, assembly drawings, and technical documentation to support testing, troubleshooting, and equipment setup.
• Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives while collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve production efficiency and product quality.

What You Bring

• Technician Diploma with at least 5 years of experience in semiconductor equipment manufacturing or a related high-tech manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing equipment, particularly RF Matching Networks, RF Generators, and standard electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes and multimeters.
• Proficiency in LabVIEW, C++, Excel automation/macros, with working knowledge of SAP and MES considered an advantage.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret technical drawings, perform failure analysis, and support root cause investigations.
• Self-motivated, quality-focused team player with excellent communication skills and the flexibility to work rotating shifts and overtime in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
