Job summary

Comet AG in Penang, Malaysia is seeking a technician for the Plasma Control Technologies division to support testing and production activities on advanced semiconductor components.

You will troubleshoot test failures, calibrate equipment, interpret schematics, and contribute to Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement with cross-functional teams. A technician diploma with 5+ years of relevant experience is required; rotating shifts and overtime may be needed.

Qualifications

• Technician Diploma with at least 5 years in semiconductor equipment manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of RF matching networks, RF generators, and test equipment.
• Proficiency in LabVIEW, C++, Excel automation; SAP and MES are advantageous.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to perform failure analysis.
• Willing to work rotating shifts and overtime in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform product testing according to production work instructions, ensuring quality and safety.
• Troubleshoot test failures, perform debugging and minor repairs, and support failure analysis.
• Operate, maintain, and calibrate test equipment while following 5S and preventive maintenance.
• Read schematics and technical docs to support testing and equipment setup.
• Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement with cross-functional teams.

In the Plasma Control Technologies (PCT) division, we manufacture specialized components that are required for the precise control of plasma processes and are used in the production of memory chips or touch screens for sensors, smartphones or tablets.

What You Will Do

• Perform product testing activities in accordance with production work instructions, ensuring products meet quality, safety, and manufacturing standards.
• Troubleshoot test failures, perform debugging and minor repairs, and support failure analysis to identify root causes and minimize production downtime.
• Operate, maintain, and calibrate test equipment and fixtures while ensuring compliance with 5S standards and preventive maintenance requirements.
• Read and interpret schematics, assembly drawings, and technical documentation to support testing, troubleshooting, and equipment setup.
• Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives while collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance production efficiency and product quality.

What You Bring

• Technician Diploma with at least 5 years of experience in semiconductor equipment manufacturing or a related electronics manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing equipment, particularly RF Matching Networks, RF Generators, and electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes and multimeters.
• Proficiency in LabVIEW, C++, Excel automation/macros, with experience in SAP and MES considered an advantage.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret technical drawings, perform failure analysis, and support root cause investigations.
• Self-motivated, quality-driven team player with excellent communication skills, a continuous improvement mindset, and the flexibility to work rotating shifts and overtime in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
