Job summary

Comet AG’s Penang site seeks an Assembly Technician in the Plasma Control Technologies division. You will contribute to high-tech semiconductor manufacturing by assembling and testing RF-related components, reading schematics, and ensuring tool readiness.

The role supports Lean initiatives and cross-functional collaboration in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate holds a Technician Diploma with 5+ years in electronics manufacturing, with proficiency in LabVIEW, C++, Excel automation;

Qualifications

• Diploma in technician field with 5+ years in semiconductor equipment manufacturing.
• Experience with RF matching networks and RF generators; able to troubleshoot.
• Proficiency in LabVIEW, C++, Excel automation; SAP/MES a plus.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Perform assembly and testing per production work instructions with quality focus.
• Troubleshoot assembly issues, perform minor rework and repairs, support root-cause analysis.
• Read schematics and drawings to support assembly, setup and troubleshooting.
• Maintain tools, fixtures and workstations following 5S and ensure readiness.
• Support Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement with cross-functional teams.

Assembly Technician

In the Plasma Control Technologies (PCT) division, we manufacture specialized components that are required for the precise control of plasma processes and are used in the production of memory chips or touch screens for sensors, smartphones or tablets.

What You Will Do

• Perform assembly and testing activities in accordance with production work instructions, ensuring products are built to quality and manufacturing standards.
• Troubleshoot assembly issues, perform minor rework and repairs, and support failure analysis to identify root causes and improve product quality.
• Read and interpret schematics, assembly drawings, and technical documentation to support assembly, equipment setup, and troubleshooting activities.
• Maintain assembly tools, fixtures, and workstations by following 5S standards, performing routine maintenance, and ensuring equipment readiness.
• Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives while collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve production, quality, and operational goals.

What You Bring

• Technician Diploma with at least 5 years of experience in semiconductor equipment manufacturing or a related electronics manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing equipment, particularly RF Matching Networks and RF Generators, with experience in assembly, troubleshooting, and failure analysis.
• Proficiency in LabVIEW, C++, Excel automation/macros, with SAP and MES experience considered an advantage.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to interpret technical drawings and collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and quality-focused team player with a continuous improvement mindset and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
