Job summary

Comet Group in Malaysia seeks a senior Production Manager to lead daily manufacturing operations in our Plasma Control Technologies division, ensuring safe, timely, and high-quality delivery of high-tech components.

You will drive Lean, Six Sigma, and 6S initiatives, coach production teams, and collaborate with Planning, Quality, and Supply Chain to maintain smooth production and rapid NPI-to-mass transitions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical field with extensive manufacturing leadership experience.
• 10+ years of manufacturing management, preferably in semiconductor/high-tech environments.
• Proven track record delivering SQCDP, productivity gains, and cost optimization.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage daily production operations to ensure safe, efficient, and timely delivery of products.
• Drive Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 6S, and process-improvement initiatives to raise productivity and reduce costs.
• Develop production teams, foster accountability and high-performance culture.
• Collaborate with Planning, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Warehouse, and Supply Chain for smooth flow and no line disruptions.
• Support NPI, line setup, troubleshooting, and transitions from development to mass production.

In the Plasma Control Technologies (PCT) division, we manufacture specialized components that are required for the precise control of plasma processes and are used in the production of memory chips or touch screens for sensors, smartphones or tablets.

Production Manager

To complement our team, we are looking for a customer- and teamoriented individual for our division Plasma Control Technologies at the Penangsite as a.

What You Will Do

• Lead and manage daily production operations to ensure safe, efficient, and timely delivery of products while achieving production targets, quality standards, and operational KPIs.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives by implementing Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 6S practices, and process optimization strategies to improve productivity and reduce operational costs.
• Manage and develop production teams, fostering accountability, collaboration, and a high-performance culture to achieve manufacturing goals.
• Collaborate closely with Planning, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Warehouse, Supply Chain, and other supporting functions to ensure smooth production flow and prevent line disruptions.
• Support new product introduction (NPI), production line setup, troubleshooting activities, and corrective actions to ensure successful transition from development to mass production.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related technical field, with extensive manufacturing leadership experience.
• More than 10 years of manufacturing management experience, preferably within the semiconductor or high-tech manufacturing industry, with proven experience managing large production teams.
• Strong track record in driving manufacturing performance through SQCDP, productivity improvement, cost optimization, and achievement of operational targets.
• Proven expertise in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, continuous improvement methodologies, process optimization, and managing NPI-to-mass production transitions.
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate effectively in English and collaborate across global and local teams.
