Job summary

Uchida MK Sdn Bhd is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to support the implementation of product development strategies from concept to launch. You will create design specs, drawings and prototypes, ensuring IMS compliance and collaborating with a cross-functional team.

The role requires 3–5 years of experience in metal product design, proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks, and strong leadership and communication skills. Based in Shah Alam, Malaysia with a competitive salary and benefits.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 3–5 years’ experience in product design, especially in metal products.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks.

• Understanding of ISO Integrated Management System (IMS).

Responsibilities

• Support product development strategies from conceptualization through design, production and launch.
• Create design specifications, technical drawings and prototypes meeting IMS standards.
• Coordinate with Procurement to ensure materials meet specifications.
• Collaborate with Production, QA, Engineering, Sales and Planning for smooth prototype to mass production transition.
• Provide technical support and optimize processes to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Implement rigorous testing, analyze results and modify designs for durability and safety.
• Communicate IMS requirements to stakeholders and address OH&S risks and environmental aspects.
• Attend internal audits and training programs.

Job description

Support the implementation of product development strategies and lifecycle, from conceptualization, design, production to product launching.

Key responsibilities:

Ensure the creation of design specifications, technical drawings and prototypes meet the industry and IMS standards; customers and other relevant stakeholders' requirement

Support implementation and integration of IMS within departmental processes, and address any issues of incompliance

Liaise with Procurement department to ensure that materials supplied meet all the product specification and requirements

Collaborate with Production, QA, Engineering, Sales and Production Planning departments to ensure smooth transition from prototype to mass production

Provide technical support to relevant departments, resolve any design and manufacturing issues and optimize processes to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness

Implement rigorous testing procedures, analyze results and implement necessary design modifications to ensure product durability, functionality and safety

Communicate IMS requirements i.e. Policy, Objectives, etc. to relevant stakeholders/parties

Ensure departmental risks & opportunities, environmental aspects & impacts and OH&S hazards & risks are identified and assessed, with appropriate controls implemented

Attend to internal audits and meetings, participate in training programs provided.

Requirements:

Posses a Diploma / Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.

3-5 years’ experience in products technical design especially in metal products.

Proficiency in AUTOCAD and SOLIDWORKS software

Strong leadership with good communication and interpersonal skills

Strong analytical and simulation capabilities.

Understanding of ISO Integrated Management System (IMS)
