Job summary

Toyochem Specialty Chemical Sdn. Bhd. invites a results-driven Lead R&D Engineer to steer polymer-focused projects from concept through scale-up to full production.

You will lead investigations, plan experiments, troubleshoot, and present progress to management with clear technical updates. You will collaborate with production and QA/QC teams to optimize processes for quality, efficiency and cost control, maintain and calibrate laboratory instruments, and drive 5S and continuous improvement

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
• 3–5 years experience in R&D with polymer technology focus.
• Hands-on R&D laboratory experience; QA/QC-only candidates not considered.
• Production background candidates may be considered if they have R&D lab experience.
• Good interpersonal skills; independent, fast learner and self-motivated.
• Mandarin language proficiency for serving Mandarin-speaking customers.

Responsibilities

• Lead R&D projects by developing polymers with focus on innovation, productivity, cost efficiency and quality.
• Manage product scale-up and technology transfer from lab to pilot plants and full-scale production.
• Investigate, troubleshoot and provide solutions for technical issues, including customer complaints.
• Monitor and optimize process performance with production and QA/QC to ensure consistent quality.
• Maintain laboratory instruments through calibration and preventive maintenance.
• Plan, document and report research activities with progress updates and technical presentations to management.
• Contribute to a safe, efficient and well-organized workplace by practicing 5S and continuous improvement initiatives.

Job description

Lead R&D projects byconducting polymers, focusing on innovation, productivity, cost efficiency and quality improvement.

Manage product scale-up and technology transferfrom laboratory to pilot plants trials and full-scale production.

Conduct investigations, troubleshooting and provide solutions for technical issues, including customer complaint resolution.

Monitor and optimize process performance, working closely with production and QA/QC teams to ensure consistent quality and operational excellence.

Maintain laboratory instrumentthrough calibration and preventive maintenance.

Plan, documents and report research activitieswith clear progress update and technical presentations to management.

Contribute to a safe, efficient and well-organized workplaceby actively practicing 5S and continuous improvement initiatives.

Job Requirement

Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering other relevant educational background.

At least 3 to 5 years experience in R&D, with technical experience in polymer technology.

Candidates must have hands-on R&D laboratory experience (Candidates with only QA/QC experience will not be considered)

Candidates with Production background may be considered only also possessed R&D laboratory experience.

Candidates must possess good inter-personal skills,independent, fast learner and self-motivated.

Candidate must be able to speak, read, and write in Mandarin-speaking candidates who will be serving Mandarin-speaking customers.

Able to work independently and as part of a team.
