Job summary

Toyochem Specialty Chemical Sdn. Bhd. invites a results-driven Lead R&D Engineer to steer polymer-focused projects from concept through scale-up to full production.

You will lead investigations, plan experiments, troubleshoot, and present progress to management with clear technical updates. You will collaborate with production and QA/QC teams to optimize processes for quality, efficiency and cost control, maintain and calibrate laboratory instruments, and drive 5S and continuous improvement

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
• 3–5 years experience in R&D with polymer technology focus.
• Hands-on R&D laboratory experience; QA/QC-only candidates not considered.
• Production background candidates may be considered if they have R&D lab experience.
• Good interpersonal skills; independent, fast learner and self-motivated.
• Mandarin language proficiency for serving Mandarin-speaking customers.

Responsibilities

• Lead R&D projects by developing polymers with focus on innovation, productivity, cost efficiency and quality.
• Manage product scale-up and technology transfer from lab to pilot plants and full-scale production.
• Investigate, troubleshoot and provide solutions for technical issues, including customer complaints.
• Monitor and optimize process performance with production and QA/QC to ensure consistent quality.
• Maintain laboratory instruments through calibration and preventive maintenance.
• Plan, document and report research activities with progress updates and technical presentations to management.
• Contribute to a safe, efficient and well-organized workplace by practicing 5S and continuous improvement initiatives.
