Job summary

Memories Entertainment Sdn Bhd is seeking a Technical Designer to develop detailed technical drawings, floor plans, and 3D models for event spaces. The role requires advanced AutoCAD and SketchUp skills, plus the ability to translate client concepts into production-ready specs.

You will collaborate with creative, production, and operations teams, ensuring designs meet safety and logistical requirements and are executed onsite during setup. An onsite presence is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Technical Design, Architecture, Interior Design, or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in technical design, ideally within events/production.
• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, and other 3D design software.

Responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive technical drawings, floor plans, layouts, and 3D models using AutoCAD, SketchUp, 3ds Max, or other design software.
• Create detailed 3D visualisations, renderings, and concepts for events, booths, and brand activation spaces.
• Translate client requirements into accurate 3D designs, drawings, and production-ready specs.

Job description

The Technical Designer is responsible for developing detailed technical plans and layouts for event spaces. This role requires advanced skills in AutoCAD and related software to produce accurate event blueprints, floor plans, and equipment layouts, ensuring optimal use of space and resources. The role also requires onsite presence to oversee the build-up and ensure designs are executed precisely according to plan.

Key responsibilities

Develop comprehensive technical drawings, floor plans, layouts, and 3D models using AutoCAD, SketchUp, 3ds Max, or other relevant design software, ensuring all designs meet spatial, functional, and event requirements.

Create detailed 3D visualisations, realistic renderings, and design concepts for events, exhibitions, stage setups, booths, backdrops, and brand activation spaces.

Translate creative concepts, sketches, and client requirements into accurate 3D designs, technical drawings, and production-ready specifications.

Collaborate closely with the creative, production, and operations teams to ensure designs align with logistical requirements, safety regulations, fabrication processes, and overall event objectives.

Prepare technical documents including floor plans, elevations, dimensions, construction details, and installation guidelines to support production and onsite execution.

Ensure all measurements, spatial planning, traffic flow, and design elements are accurately planned for efficient space utilisation and smooth event operations.

Be present onsite during the setup and build-up phases to oversee the execution of technical designs, monitor installation progress, troubleshoot issues, and make necessary adjustments when required.

Comply with venue specifications, safety requirements, and technical guidelines.

Review and revise 3D designs based on client feedback, production requirements, and real-time adjustments while maintaining clear and organised records of all design updates.

Coordinate with vendors and production teams to ensure final fabrication and installation are executed according to approved designs and specifications.

About you

Bachelor's degree in Technical Design, Architecture, Interior Design, or a related field and/or minimum 3 years of experience in technical design, ideally within the events or production industry.

Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, and other 3D design software.

Strong spatial awareness, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work well under tight deadlines.

Willingness to be onsite during event setup and build-up to ensure the accurate and efficient execution of technical plans.
