Job summary

Otis Elevator Company (M) Sdn Bhd in Malaysia is seeking a commissioning technician to assist in functional testing and handover of elevators and escalators. You will support inspections, verify installations meet standards, and help troubleshoot issues during testing.

The role emphasizes coordination with installation teams, subcontractors, and customers, plus maintaining thorough documentation and safety practices. An engineering diploma and 1–3 years of relevant experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Diploma/Certificate in Electrical/Mechanical/Mechatronics/Electronic Engineering or related technical disciplines.
• 1–3 years of experience in elevators/escalators, construction or commissioning is advantageous.
• Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical systems.
• Ability to read technical drawings and wiring diagrams.
• Familiarity with testing instruments and troubleshooting techniques.
• Knowledge of elevator/escalator systems is an added advantage.
• Good communication and coordination skills.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving mindset.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Assist in functional testing and commissioning of elevators and escalators.
• Support final equipment inspection prior to customer handover.
• Verify installation compliance with Otis standards, specs and local regulations.
• Assist in troubleshooting and resolving issues identified during testing.
• Perform ride quality, safety circuit, and functionality checks.
• Maintain commissioning records, checklists and inspection reports.
• Prepare project completion and handover documentation.
• Update testing and commissioning status reports.
• Ensure all required certificates and regulatory submissions are completed.
• Coordinate with installation supervisors and subcontractors for commissioning readiness.
• Liaise with contractors, consultants and customers regarding testing schedules.
• Support site inspections with local authorities and third-party inspectors.
• Follow Otis EH&S requirements and safe work practices.
• Participate in toolbox meetings and safety briefings.
• Escalate safety or quality concerns promptly.
• Assist engineers in defect rectification prior to handover.
• Support project close-out activities.
• Attend customer inspections and acceptance tests when required.

Key Responsibilities

Testing & Commissioning

• Assist in functional testing and commissioning of elevators and escalators.

Requirements
