Job summary

AS White Global is seeking a Systems Engineer in Kuala Lumpur to own and evolve our compute and storage platforms, ensuring security, reliability, and scalable operations. You will drive upgrades, automate infrastructure, and troubleshoot complex production issues while partnering with stakeholders.

The role requires 2+ years in a systems role, strong scripting, and familiarity with virtualization and IaC. A hybrid work arrangement with monthly onsite presence supports collaboration and on-call

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 2 years' experience in a Systems Engineer or Systems Administrator role.
• Linux and/or Windows administration experience, including deployment, automation, performance tuning, resource management, and on-premises systems support.
• Hands-on scripting and automation using Bash, Python, PowerShell, JSON, and YAML.
• Exposure to Git, GitLab/GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure-as-Code practices.
• Experience supporting virtualization platforms such as VMware vSphere, Oracle OLVM, VMware/KVM.
• Understanding of enterprise infrastructure, including backup and disaster recovery, networking fundamentals.
• Familiarity with monitoring/observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, or Nagios.
• A proactive and collaborative mindset with strong communication and problem-solving skills, the ability to maintain technical documentation and participate in an after-hours on-call roster.

What You'll Do

Key Criteria

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 2 years' experience in a Systems Engineer or Systems Administrator role.
• Linux (RHEL, Ubuntu, Rocky Linux, CentOS) and/or Windows administration experience, including deployment, automation, performance tuning, resource management, and on-premises systems support.
• Hands-on experience with scripting and automation using Bash, Python, PowerShell, JSON, and YAML.
• Exposure to Git, GitLab/GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure-as-Code practices would be a great advantage.
• Experience supporting virtualization platforms such as VMware vSphere, Oracle OLVM, VMware/KVM is a plus point!
• Understanding of enterprise infrastructure, including backup and disaster recovery, networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, VPNs, firewalls) is good to have.
• Familiarity with monitoring/observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, or Nagios would be a good advantage.
• A proactive and collaborative mindset with strong communication and problem-solving skills, the ability to maintain technical documentation and participate in an after-hours on-call roster.

Work setup:

• Kuala Lumpur (Mid Valley City): Malaysian hours (8:30 AM – 5:30 PM MYT) Hybrid work setup (twice a month onsite).
