DataSpeed Sdn Bhd is seeking an experienced System Administrator to join our Information and Communication Technology team.
This is a full-time position based in Kuala Lumpur. You will play a key role in maintaining, monitoring, securing, and optimising our clients’ IT infrastructure. You will help ensure the stability, security, availability, and performance of client systems while supporting their day-to-day operations and technology initiatives.
About the role
DataSpeed Sdn Bhd is seeking an experienced System Administrator to join our Information and Communication Technology team.
This is a full-time position based in Kuala Lumpur. You will play a key role in maintaining, monitoring, securing, and optimising our clients’ IT infrastructure. You will help ensure the stability, security, availability, and performance of client systems while supporting their day-to-day operations and technology initiatives.
Key responsibilities
- Install, configure, administer, and maintain servers, operating systems, and network devices within client environments.
- Monitor the availability and performance of client systems, proactively identifying and resolving issues to minimise downtime.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls in accordance with client security and compliance requirements.
- Implement, maintain, and regularly test backup and disaster recovery procedures to protect clients’ critical systems and data.
- Apply security patches, software updates, and system upgrades to keep client infrastructure secure and up to date.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to clients and end users.
- Investigate technical incidents, identify root causes, and implement appropriate corrective and preventive measures.
- Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, infrastructure changes, operating procedures, and technical solutions.
- Collaborate with clients, internal team members, vendors, and technology partners on infrastructure planning and capacity management.
- Support the implementation of high-availability, scalability, and business continuity solutions.
- Ensure services are delivered in accordance with organisational policies, client requirements, security standards, and applicable regulations.
What we’re looking for
- A diploma, advanced diploma, bachelor’s degree, or higher qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- At least five years of professional experience as a System Administrator, Server Administrator, Infrastructure Engineer, or in a similar IT infrastructure role.
- Strong hands‑on experience administering Linux operating systems; experience with RHEL‑based distributions is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of the LEMP stack and experience administering technologies such as MySQL, MariaDB, and Redis.
- Experience in network administration, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, firewalls, and VPN technologies.
- Proficiency in managing virtualisation platforms such as VMware, Hyper‑V, or KVM.
- Solid understanding of high‑availability and scalable system architectures.
- Good knowledge of security best practices, including system hardening, firewall management, access control, vulnerability management, and intrusion detection.
- Experience implementing and managing backup and disaster recovery solutions.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues efficiently.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with clients, technical teams, and non‑technical users.
- A service‑oriented mindset and the ability to manage client expectations professionally.
- Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and manage multiple client environments and technical responsibilities.
The following would be an advantage:
- Experience with cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- A DevOps background, including experience with automation, CI/CD pipelines, containerisation, infrastructure as code, or configuration management tools.
