ASTRODYNE TDI SDN. BHD. in Penang is seeking an experienced Sustaining Engineering Manager to lead our power electronics engineering team.
You will oversee end-to-end failure analyses, drive ECR/ECN processes, and provide critical production support to ensure high reliability of our products. The role requires a strong background in switching power supply hardware R&D, hands-on experience with EMI/EMC, safety standards, and a proven track record in leading technical teams.
We are seeking an experienced and technical Sustaining Engineering Manager to lead our engineering team in maintaining high-performing, reliable power electronics products. In this role, you will lead end-to-end product failure analyses, oversee engineering change processes (ECR/ECN), provide crucial support to production, and drive the technical growth of our sustaining engineering talent.

Team Leadership & Development: Oversee the daily operations of the Sustaining Engineering team. Provide continuous technical capability training and mentoring to elevate overall team performance and standards.
Failure Analysis & Technical Guidance: Guide engineers through systematic failure analysis methods. Lead in-depth investigations into product failures—especially design-related issues to identify root causes and deliver comprehensive technical support to production teams.
Reporting & Corrective Action: Draft detailed failure analysis (FA) reports and drive subsequent product improvement measures through to full implementation.
Engineering Change Management (ECR/ECN): Manage and track ECR/ECN workflows. Coordinate cross-functionally to ensure design changes are effectively executed within specified timeframes without disrupting production schedules.
Issue Tracking & Closure: Maintain, monitor, and update the issue tracking log, following up on open items until complete resolution and closure.
Bachelor’s degree or above in Power Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Bachelor's holders: 10+ years of switching power supply hardware R&D experience, including 3+ years in team management or core project leadership.
Master's holders: 5+ years of relevant experience with leadership exposure.
Solid foundation in power electronics with mastery of AC/DC, DC/DC, and DC/AC topologies (e.g., PFC, Flyback, Forward, LLC, Phase-shifted Full-bridge).
Proficient in power loss and failure analysis, magnetic and thermal design, PCB layout, and feedback loop tuning.
Deep familiarity with global safety (UL, CE), EMC, and energy efficiency standards (Energy Star, DoE).
Proven hands-on experience with EMI/EMC rectification.
Working knowledge of ISO9001 quality standards and RoHS/REACH compliance.
Hands-on proficiency with specialized test equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, power analyzers) and EDA design tools (e.g., Cadence).
Strong leadership, communication, and team-building capabilities.

Language Proficiency: Excellent business and technical English command across listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
