Job summary

Meinhardt EPCM Sdn. Bhd. is seeking a Sustainability Lead / Deputy in Penang or Klang Valley to drive project sustainability strategies and certification programs.

You will set roadmaps, targets and KPIs, and serve as the primary point of accountability for sustainability performance across portfolios. You will provide technical leadership on certification pathways (GBI, LEED, GreenRE, INFRASTAR, MyCREST) and guide teams on low-carbon design, energy transition, and climate resilience, while

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in architectural or engineering field.
• Minimum 5 years in sustainable building or infrastructure design.
• Hands-on Green Building certifications experience.
• CIDB INFRA-Star/MyCREST/GBI/LEED certifications preferred.
• Experience with energy modeling tools is advantageous.

Job description

The Sustainability Lead / Deputy reports to the Head/Manager of Environmental Sustainability Design (ESD) within the HSEQ & Sustainability department. This role is based either in Penang / Klang Valley and involves leading sustainability strategies, certifications, and technical direction across projects and portfolios.

Key responsibilities:

Lead the development and execution of sustainability strategies for projects and portfolios.

Set sustainability roadmaps, targets, and KPIs.

Serve as the main accountability point for sustainability performance, certification results, and compliance.

Oversee sustainability approaches for all green certification systems (GBI, LEED, GreenRE, MyCREST, INFRASTAR, etc.)

Provide technical leadership on certification pathways and risk mitigation.

Act as the primary sustainability representative for clients, authorities, and certification bodies.

Guide teams on low-carbon design, carbon budgets, energy transition, and climate resilience.

Set technical standards across energy, water, materials, IEQ, LCA, and embodied carbon.

Ensure sustainability deliverables meet regulatory, quality, and contractual requirements.

Mentor junior sustainability staff and build team capability.

Job Holder requirement:

Bachelor's degree in architectural, engineering (civil, mechanical, environmental) or related field.

At least 5 years of experience in sustainable building/infrastructure design, construction, or upgrades.

Hands-on experience with Green Building certifications (CIDB INFRA-Star, CIDB MyCREST, GreenRE, GBI, LEED).

CIDB INFRA-Star Facilitator or/and CIDB MyCREST or/and GREENRE AP or/and GBI Facilitator or/and LEED Green Associate/LEED AP certification is preferred.

Experience with sustainable infrastructure, data center or industrial projects or commercial is highly desirable.

Familiarity with GHG Protocol, ISO 14064 is a plus.

Familiarity with energy modeling tools like HAP (e20) and IESVE is a plus.

Proficient in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, Word).
