Job summary

Avisena Specialist Hospital in Shah Alam is hiring nurses to support pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care within the Operating Theatre. You will review schedules, prepare the OT, assist the surgical team, and ensure accurate documentation and patient safety.

Fresh graduates with APC & LJM licenses are encouraged to apply. The role includes shift work, on-call duties, and opportunities for professional development through education support and courses.

Responsibilities

• Pre-Operative: prepare the Operating Theatre before procedures and align with the schedule.
• Intra-Operative: assist surgical team and act as circulating nurse.
• Post-Operative: scrub or circulate after wound closure and document promptly.
• Maintain a safe environment for patients requiring close monitoring.
• Participate in health education for patients and relatives during hospitalization and discharge.
• Assist HOD in managing Operating Theatre Quality Improvement Activities.
• Prioritize nursing care and escalate concerns to seniors when needed.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• 1) Pre-Operative (Pre-OP)
  • Prepare the Operating Theatre (OT) before the commencement of surgical procedures.
  • Review the daily surgical schedule and prepare the operating theatre according to the type of procedure and surgical requirements.
• 2) Intra-Operative (Intra-Op)
  • Assist the surgical team during operative procedures.
  • Perform the role of a circulating nurse as required.
  • Contribute to maintaining a positive working environment to ensure patients receive high-quality care at all times.
• 3) Post-Operative (Post-Op)
  • Perform duties as a scrub nurse or circulating nurse following wound closure.
  • Ensure all required documentation is completed accurately and promptly.
  • Maintain a safe environment for patients requiring close monitoring and intensive nursing care.
• Other Responsibilities
  • Participate in health education activities and provide explanations regarding treatment plans to patients and their relatives during hospitalization and discharge.
  • Support and assist the Head of Department (HOD) in managing Operating Theatre Quality Improvement Activities (QIA).
  • Prioritize nursing care effectively, recognize signs of patient deterioration, and promptly escalated concerns to senior staff members.
  • Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and safety standards to ensure quality patient care.
    

Requirements:

• Adheres to all policies and procedures, Nursing Standard and Code of Ethics.
• Demonstrate knowledge of principles, method, and technique of performing standard nursing practice.
• Work on shift and on-call duties and deliver standards in the quality of care.
• Received the daily report of every patient, know the case in details, progress the patient, ensure all orders before her/his shift has been carried or which to take over and encounter any incidents or problems.
• Follow doctors/consultants and assist them in doing procedure when required.
• Fresh graduates with valid APC & LJM license are encourage to apply
