Job summary

BP Healthcare Group is recruiting Operating Theatre Nurses for locations in Petaling Jaya and Ipoh. The role involves assisting in surgeries, providing comprehensive perioperative care, and ensuring theatre readiness.

Candidates should have nursing registration, a nursing degree or diploma, and preferably a Post Basic OR qualification. Ideal applicants will have scrub and circulating duties experience, strong infection control knowledge, and good teamwork abilities.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with Malaysian Nursing Board or Nursing Council registration and APC.
• Diploma or Degree in Nursing required.
• Post Basic Operating Theatre qualification preferred.
• Experience in Operating Theatre advantageous.
• Competent in scrub and circulating duties.
• Strong knowledge of infection control and aseptic technique.
• Good communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in safe operation of the Operating Theatre.
• Provide pre-, intra-, and post-operative nursing care.
• Assist surgeons and medical practitioners during procedures.
• Prepare theatre, instruments, equipment and consumables.
• Maintain instruments, supplies and stock of materials.
• Ensure asepsis, infection control and safety protocols.

Recruiting for Operating Theatre Nurses in the following location:

Petaling Jaya

Ipoh

Job Description

1. Assist in the smooth and safe operation of the Operating Theatre.

2. Provide pre-operative, intra-operative and post-operative nursing care to patients.

3. Assist surgeons and medical practitioners during surgical procedures.

4. Prepare the Operating Theatre, surgical instruments, equipment and consumables before procedures.

5. Perform scrub and circulating nurse duties according to the requirements of each procedure.

6. Ensure proper sterilisation, handling and maintenance of surgical instruments and equipment.

7. Monitor patients' condition and provide appropriate nursing care before, during and after procedures.

8. Maintain accurate patient records, surgical documentation and nursing reports.

9. Ensure compliance with infection prevention and control, patient safety and Operating Theatre protocols.

10. Check and maintain adequate stock of surgical supplies, medications and equipment.

11. Work closely with doctors, anaesthetists and the multidisciplinary healthcare team.

12. Ensure the Operating Theatre is maintained in a clean, safe and organised condition.

13. Participate in quality improvement, audits and other duties assigned by management.

14. Maintains nursing supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level;

15. Maintains continuity among nursing teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.

16. Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; calling for repairs; and evaluating new equipment and techniques.

17. To assists dentists as and when required.

18. Help out with other works in the outlet, when required; and

19. Other assignments as and when given by the Management.

Job Requirement

Registered Nurse with valid Malaysian Nursing Board / Malaysian Nursing Council registration and Annual Practising Certificate (APC).

Diploma or Degree in Nursing.

Post Basic Certificate in Operating Theatre / Perioperative Nursing is strongly preferred.

Previous experience in an Operating Theatre environment will be an advantage.

Competent in scrub and circulating duties.

Good knowledge of infection control, surgical safety and aseptic techniques.

Good communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.

Responsible, disciplined and able to work independently.

Able to work shifts and/or extended hours when required.

Fresh graduates with relevant Post Basic qualification may also be considered.
