Job summary

Penchem Technologies Sdn Bhd is seeking a procurement professional to develop and execute sourcing strategies for materials and services. You will evaluate local and overseas suppliers, conduct RFQ/RFP processes, and negotiate to deliver cost savings while ensuring supplier performance and compliance.

The role requires at least 3 years of strategic sourcing experience and relevant degree with ERP/Excel proficiency. Travel locally and abroad is expected to support supplier development and audits.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of strategic sourcing or procurement experience.
• Master Degree or Bachelor's in SCM, Procurement, Purchasing, Business Admin, Logistics or related field.
• Experience in cost reduction, supplier development and supply-risk management.
• Manufacturing industry experience preferred, raw-material sourcing advantageous.
• Willing to travel locally and overseas for supplier visits and audits.
• Able to converse in Malay; English and Chinese are a plus.

Job description

• Develop and execute sourcing strategies for raw materials, packaging, services and other assigned categories.
• Identify, evaluate and develop competitive local and overseas suppliers to support business requirements.
• Conduct price benchmarking, quotation analysis, cost comparison and supplier negotiation to achieve cost savings and cost avoidance.
• Coordinate new supplier evaluation and qualification with Quality, Engineering and relevant departments, and support supplier improvement activities.
• Monitor supplier performance in terms of quality, cost, delivery, responsiveness and service, and drive corrective actions where required.
• Identify supply risks such as single-source dependency, capacity constraints, long lead time and price volatility, and establish alternative or dual sourcing.
• Monitor market trends, raw-material prices, supply conditions and industry developments to support sourcing and purchasing decisions.
• Lead sourcing projects including RFQ/RFP, supplier comparison, commercial evaluation, negotiation, recommendation and implementation.
• Work closely with Procurement, Quality, Engineering, Production, Planning, Finance and other departments to ensure sourcing decisions meet technical, commercial and operational requirements.
• Maintain supplier, pricing and sourcing data; analyze purchasing spend and supplier performance; and prepare reports and recommendations for management.
• Support the development of ERP, SharePoint, dashboard and other digital tools to improve sourcing visibility, data accuracy and procurement efficiency.
• Identify and implement improvements in sourcing processes, supplier management, cost competitiveness and supply-chain effectiveness.

Experience Requirement:

• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, purchasing, supply chain or a related field. Proven experience in supplier sourcing, RFQ/RFP, quotation evaluation, price benchmarking, negotiation and supplier performance management.
• Master Degree, Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Purchasing, Business Administration, Logistics, Operations Management, or related field.
• Experience in cost reduction, supplier development and supply-risk management.
• Manufacturing industry experience is preferred, with exposure to raw-material sourcing being an added advantage.
• Experience in international sourcing and supplier negotiation, particularly with China/Taiwan suppliers, is an advantage.
• Experience in ERP systems and data analysis using Microsoft Excel is required.
• Able to converse and written in Malay, English, Chinese will be extra advantage.
• Willing to travel locally and overseas for supplier visits, audits, sourcing activities, negotiations and supplier development.
• Willing to visit supplier facilities and participate in supplier evaluation and qualification activities.
• Able to communicate and negotiate effectively with local and international suppliers.
