Qualifications

• 3–5 years in a production supervisory role in electronics/SMT.

• Experience with production management systems is a plus.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic SMT Production Supervisor to join our manufacturing facility in Perai, Penang. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of our surface mount technology production line. As SMT Production Supervisor, you will be responsible for ensuring that all production activities run smoothly, efficiently, and in compliance with quality standards and safety regulations. You will be a key member of the operations team, reporting to the Supply Chain Director and working closely with production staff to achieve our manufacturing targets and maintain our reputation for excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily production activities on the SMT production line, ensuring all machines and equipment are operating at optimal efficiency
• Monitor production schedules and ensure that targets are met within the specified timeframes whilst maintaining quality standards
• Conduct regular inspections of products at various stages of production to identify and address any quality issues promptly
• Train, mentor and support production operators and technicians, ensuring they understand standard operating procedures and safety protocols
• Manage workforce scheduling and ensure adequate staffing levels on the production line
• Identify areas for process improvement and implement corrective actions to enhance productivity and reduce waste
• Maintain accurate production records and documentation, reporting key metrics to senior management
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety and environmental regulations within the production facility
• Investigate and resolve production issues, equipment breakdowns and other operational challenges in a timely manner
• Liaise with maintenance teams to schedule equipment servicing and repairs with minimal disruption to production
• Foster a positive and collaborative team environment, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and safety awareness

What we're looking for

• Proven experience of at least 3-5 years in a production supervisory role within electronics manufacturing, SMT or a related manufacturing environment
• Strong knowledge of SMT production processes, equipment and quality control procedures
• Excellent leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate and develop team members
• Proficiency in reading production schedules, technical drawings and quality specifications
• Solid understanding of health, safety and environmental compliance standards relevant to manufacturing operations
• Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to make informed decisions under pressure
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organisation
• Proficiency in using production management systems and basic computer applications
• A commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence
• Relevant qualifications such as a Diploma or Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Production Management or a related field would be advantageous
• Certification in quality management systems (ISO 9001) or lean manufacturing methodologies is desirable
