TECHMAN ELECTRONICS (MALAYSIA) SDN. BHD. is seeking an experienced SMT Manager to lead all SMT production operations at our Penang facility. The role emphasizes process optimisation, quality control, team development, and continuous improvement to support growth.

You will report to senior operations leadership and manage budgets, supplier coordination, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure excellence in manufacturing performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electronics/Manufacturing Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 8 years in SMT manufacturing or electronics production management.
• Proven leadership of production operations and teams.
• Strong knowledge of SMT processes, quality standards, and lean / Six Sigma.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage all SMT production operations, including maintenance and scheduling.
• Supervise SMT engineering and production teams with mentorship and performance reviews.
• Monitor quality standards and implement corrective actions.
• Oversee equipment procurement, maintenance, and capital expenditure.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced SMT Manager to join our operations team in Penang on a full-time basis. This is a strategic management position responsible for overseeing all aspects of our surface mount technology operations. The SMT Manager will play a crucial role in optimising production efficiency, ensuring quality standards, managing team performance, and driving continuous improvement initiatives within our manufacturing facility. This role reports to senior operations leadership and is integral to achieving our operational excellence objectives and supporting business growth.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage all SMT production operations, including equipment maintenance, process optimisation, and adherence to production schedules
• Oversee and supervise SMT engineering and production teams, providing mentorship, performance management, and professional development opportunities
• Monitor and maintain quality standards across all SMT processes, implementing corrective and preventative actions to resolve quality issues
• Manage equipment procurement, maintenance schedules, and capital expenditure projects for SMT production lines
• Develop and implement process improvements and efficiency initiatives to reduce costs, minimise waste, and increase throughput
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies across the SMT department
• Manage production budgets, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and prepare regular reports for senior management
• Coordinate with planning, quality, and customer service departments to ensure seamless production flow and on-time delivery
• Drive continuous improvement culture through lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies
• Conduct root cause analysis on production issues and implement lasting solutions to prevent recurrence

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline
• Minimum 8 years of experience in SMT manufacturing or electronics production management
• Proven track record of successfully managing production operations, teams, and delivering results in a manufacturing environment
• In-depth knowledge of SMT equipment, processes, and best practices in electronics assembly
• Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate and develop high-performing teams
• Demonstrated expertise in quality management systems (ISO 9001, IPC standards) and continuous improvement methodologies
• Proficiency in production planning, inventory management, and ERP systems
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with strong attention to detail
• Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and senior management
• Fluency in English; knowledge of Mandarin or Malay is beneficial. We are seeking candidates proficient in Mandarin to effectively communicate with Mandarin-speaking clients.
• Valid driving licence and willingness to travel within Malaysia if required
