Job summary

Spektra WaterTech Sdn. Bhd. invites a qualified Site Safety Supervisor to ensure compliance with DOSH/JKKP and CIDB on our wastewater treatment projects in Malaysia. You will lead toolbox talks, inspections, PTW coordination, and safety documentation.

The role requires a valid DOSH/JKKP SSS registration (Yellow Book), 2+ years in construction site safety, and strong communication and leadership skills. Travel to project sites is expected.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid DOSH/JKKP Site Safety Supervisor (SSS) registration – Yellow Book.
• Minimum 2 years of working experience in construction site safety, preferably WWTP/IETS/civil or M&E projects.
• Familiar with OSHA, regulations, and construction safety requirements.
• Able to prepare and maintain safety documentation, permits to work (PTW), and safety records.

• Coordinate toolbox meetings, safety briefings, site inductions, and safety awareness programs.
• Monitor PPE usage and ensure compliance with safe work procedures.

• Investigate accidents and near misses and prepare reports and corrective actions.
• Maintain site safety records and documentation.
• Coordinate safety with main contractor, subcontractors, consultants, and workers.

Job description

Act as the Site Safety Supervisor (SSS) for the project and ensure compliance with applicable Malaysian occupational safety and health requirements.

Monitor and ensure compliance with DOSH/JKKP, CIDB, project safety requirements, and approved construction safety procedures.

Conduct regular site inspections to identify unsafe conditions, hazards, and unsafe work practices, and ensure corrective actions are implemented.

Conduct and coordinate toolbox meetings, safety briefings, site inductions, and safety awareness programmes for workers and subcontractors.

Monitor the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and ensure workers comply with established safe work procedures.

Monitor high-risk activities including excavation, lifting operations, hot work, confined space entry, work at height, electrical works, mechanical installation, welding, and testing/commissioning activities.

Ensure Permit-to-Work (PTW) requirements are implemented for applicable high-risk activities.

Assist in the preparation and implementation of Risk Assessment, HIRARC, Method Statements, Safe Work Procedures, Emergency Response Plans, and other safety documentation.

Monitor site housekeeping, access/egress, temporary electrical installations, machinery, lifting equipment, scaffolding, barricading, signage, and other safety controls.

Coordinate safety requirements with the main contractor, subcontractors, consultants, project engineers, site supervisors, and workers.

Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe occurrences and assist in preparing the necessary reports and corrective action plans.

Maintain proper site safety records, inspection checklists, toolbox meeting records, training records, incident reports, and other statutory/project documentation.

Monitor environmental and site-control measures relevant to the wastewater treatment project, including spill prevention, chemical handling, waste management, dust/noise control, and housekeeping.

Ensure appropriate safety measures are implemented during chemical handling, wastewater-related works, tank works, and commissioning activities.

Assist the project team during DOSH/JKKP, CIDB, DOE, consultant, client, or other authority inspections, where applicable.

Immediately report serious hazards, accidents, non-compliance, or unsafe conditions to the Project /Assistant Project Manager or relevant management personnel.

Promote a strong safety-first culture throughout the project.

Requirement:

Must possess a valid DOSH/JKKP Site Safety Supervisor (SSS) registration – Yellow Book.

Minimum 2 years of working experience in construction site safety, preferably in wastewater treatment plants (WWTP), industrial effluent treatment systems (IETS), civil works or M&E projects.

Possess relevant qualifications in Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering or Construction Management.

Familiar with Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994 (OSHA), relevant regulations and construction safety requirements.

Knowledge of HIRARC, risk assessment, toolbox meetings, safety inspections and incident investigation.

Able to prepare and maintain safety documentation, reports, permits to work (PTW) and safety records.

Able to monitor subcontractors and workers to ensure compliance with site safety requirements.

Good communication, leadership and problem-solving skills.

Must work at project sites and travel when required.
