Job summary

Jora Malaysia is seeking a hands-on Fiber Optic Technician to install, splice, test and maintain fiber networks across field sites.

You will interpret network diagrams, perform OTDR and power meter tests, install enclosures and patch panels, and keep accurate splicing records.

The role requires a Diploma or Certificate in Electrical/Telecommunications, willingness to travel, and strict adherence to safety standards.

Qualifications

• Certificate or Diploma in Electrical/Telecommunication or related field.
• Experience in fiber optic splicing and testing preferred.
• Familiar with fiber tools and equipment (OTDR, fusion splicer, power meter).
• Ability to read and understand network diagrams and technical drawings.
• Willing to work outdoors and travel as required.

Responsibilities

• Perform installation, splicing, testing, and maintenance of fiber optic cables.
• Conduct fiber optic fusion and mechanical splicing for single-mode and multi-mode fibers.
• Interpret and work from fiber network plans, splicing diagrams, and technical documentation.
• Conduct OTDR, power meter, and light source testing to ensure proper signal transmission and troubleshoot faults.
• Install enclosures, patch panels, and other fiber termination hardware.
• Maintain accurate splicing records, test results, and daily activity logs.
• Ensure compliance with safety procedures and industry standards.
• Coordinate with team members and contractors to meet project deadlines.
• Travel to various sites as needed for fieldwork.
• Perform other duties related to fiber optic installation and maintenance.
