Job summary

GSD Land (M) Sdn Bhd is seeking a Safety and Health Supervisor to oversee daily construction site activities in Penang, ensuring compliance with OSH laws and project safety requirements. You will conduct inspections, audits, and toolbox talks, and coordinate with clients, consultants, subcontractors and authorities.

Prerequisites include a Diploma or Degree in OSH and a valid DOSH-registered Site Safety Supervisor (SSS) with Yellow Book.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Occupational Safety and Health Management, Safety Management or an equivalent qualification.
• Must be a valid DOSH-registered Site Safety Supervisor (SSS) and hold a Yellow Book.
• Relevant experience in construction site safety supervision will be an added advantage.
• Good knowledge of OSH legislation, regulations, construction safety standards and industry best practices.
• Familiarity with construction site operations, safety inspections, risk assessments and safety documentation.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and monitor daily construction site activities to ensure compliance with OSH requirements.
• Conduct regular site inspections, safety audits and workplace surveillance to ensure procedures are implemented.
• Monitor and inspect subcontractors' work activities for compliance with legislation and project safety requirements.
• Assist SHO and Site Manager in daily safety surveillance, inspections, and maintaining safety checklists and records.
• Identify hazards, assess risks, and recommend corrective and preventive measures.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, subcontractors and authorities (DOSH, DOE, BOMBA, MOH, CIDB) on OSH matters.
• Assist in investigating accidents, incidents and near misses and prepare reports and recommendations.
• Promote safety awareness through toolbox talks, safety briefings and initiatives.
• Ensure documentation and maintenance of all site safety and health records.

Job description

Supervise and monitor daily construction site activities to ensure compliance with occupational safety and health requirements.

Conduct regular site inspections, safety audits and workplace surveillance to ensure that all safety procedures and practices are properly implemented.

Monitor and inspect subcontractors' work activities to ensure compliance with applicable Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) legislation, regulations, standards and project safety requirements.

Assist the Safety and Health Officer (SHO) and Site Manager in conducting daily workplace safety surveillance and inspections, including the completion and maintenance of relevant safety checklists, SOP forms and inspection records.

Identify potential workplace hazards, assess risks and recommend appropriate corrective and preventive measures.

Monitor the implementation of safety control measures and follow up on any non-compliance or unsafe practices identified on site.

Liaise and coordinate with clients, consultants, subcontractors and relevant government authorities, including DOSH, DOE, BOMBA, the Ministry of Health (MOH) and CIDB, on occupational safety, health and environmental matters.

Assist in investigating workplace accidents, incidents and near misses, and prepare relevant reports and recommendations where required.

Promote safety awareness among site personnel through toolbox meetings, safety briefings and other safety-related initiatives.

Ensure proper documentation, reporting and maintenance of all site safety and health records.

Perform any other safety and health-related duties as assigned by the Superior or Management from time to time.

Job Requirements

Possess at least a Diploma or Degree in Occupational Safety and Health Management, Safety Management or an equivalent qualification.

Must be a valid DOSH-registered Site Safety Supervisor (SSS) and hold a Yellow Book.

Relevant experience in construction site safety supervision will be an added advantage.

Good knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health legislation, regulations, construction safety standards and industry best practices.

Familiarity with construction site operations, safety inspections, risk assessments and safety documentation.

Good communication, coordination and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, consultants, subcontractors and site personnel.

Able to work independently, demonstrate initiative and take a proactive approach to identifying and addressing safety issues.
