Job summary

AZAN ENGINEERING SDN. BHD. is seeking a Diploma/Certificate holder in OSH or related field to monitor construction safety on site in Miri. You will conduct inspections, advise on safe practices, and coordinate with managers and subcontractors to ensure compliance with safety rules and PPE requirements.

The role involves inductions, toolbox talks, document preparation, and assisting in risk assessments while upholding DOSH/JKKP standards. You must travel to project sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum Diploma/Certificate in Occupational Safety & Health or related field.
• Valid DOSH/JKKP Site Safety Supervisor registration.
• Experience in construction site safety is an advantage.
• Knowledge of DOSH/JKKP requirements and site practices.
• Familiar with hazard identification and incident reporting.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to work independently on a fast-paced site.

Responsibilities

• Monitor daily site activities to ensure compliance with safety requirements.
• Conduct regular site safety inspections and identify hazards and unsafe practices.

• Assist in preparing and maintaining safety documents and records.
• Investigate and report accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
• Recommend and follow up on corrective actions for safety issues.
• Monitor PPE usage and condition of safety equipment.
• Assist in preparing risk assessments and safety checklists.
• Coordinate with Project Manager, Site Engineer, subcontractors and workers on safety matters.
• Ensure housekeeping and safe access on site.

Job description

Monitor daily site activities to ensure compliance with occupational safety and health requirements.

Conduct regular site safety inspections and identify potential hazards and unsafe practices.

Ensure workers comply with safety rules, procedures and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.

Advise site personnel and workers on safe working practices.

Conduct safety briefings, toolbox meetings and site inductions when required.

Assist in preparing and maintaining safety related documents, reports and records.

Investigate and report accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.

Recommend and follow up on corrective actions for identified safety issues.

Monitor the proper use and condition of PPE, safety equipment and site facilities.

Assist in preparing risk assessments, safety checklists and other relevant safety documentation.

Coordinate with the Project Manager, Site Engineer, subcontractors and workers regarding safety matters.

Ensure proper housekeeping and safe access are maintained throughout the construction site.

Monitor compliance with applicable DOSH/JKKP requirements and company safety procedures.

Assist during safety audits, inspections and visits by relevant authorities or consultants.

Carry out other safety-related duties assigned by the management.

Requirements

Minimum Diploma/Certificate in Occupational Safety & Health, Construction, Engineering or related field.

Valid Site Safety Supervisor (SSS) registration/competency with DOSH/JKKP is required.

Relevant experience in construction site safety is an advantage.

Good knowledge of occupational safety and health requirements and construction site practices.

Familiar with HIRARC, risk assessment, toolbox meetings, safety inspections and incident reporting.

Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Strong observation and problem solving skills.

Responsible, disciplined and able to work independently.

Able to work in a fast paced construction site environment.

Willing to work at project sites and travel when required.

Possess own transportation is an advantage.
