Job summary

Site Manager – Structured Cabling Projects is a permanent role based in Malaysia. You will lead and coordinate structured cabling campaigns in commercial buildings, office spaces and data centres, ensuring safety, quality and on-time delivery.

The role requires strong team leadership, client liaison and regular reporting to the Project Manager. Proficiency in Cat6/Cat6a cabling and MS Office is essential; experience in data centre environments is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience leading structured cabling projects in data centres or commercial offices.
• Strong knowledge of Cat6/Cat6a cabling standards.
• Proven ability to manage project teams and liaise with clients.
• Capable of producing progress reports and site documentation.
• Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Lead engineers and supervisors to install Cat6/Cat6a cabling to spec.
• Manage site safety duties, risk assessments, and method statements.
• Oversee stock, procurement, and cost control for projects.
• Prepare progress reports for the Project Manager.
• Update site drawings and client meeting notes.
• Produce operations and maintenance manuals as required.
• Coordinate patching schedules and urgent installation needs.

Role Overview

The Site Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating structured cabling projects in commercial buildings, office spaces, and data centre environments. This includes the management of small to medium-sized projects or contributing to larger-scale programs under the direction of a Project Manager.

You will manage onsite activities, ensuring all work meets the required technical, safety, and quality standards while delivering on-time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of engineers and supervisors, ensuring structured cabling installations are completed to specification, schedule, and quality standards.
• Conduct site-level Health & Safety duties, including risk assessments, method statements, and compliance with all H&S procedures.
• Oversee stock levels and material usage to support cost-effective project execution.
• Procure materials in line with project timelines and requirements.
• Prepare and present regular progress reports and updates to the Project Manager.
• Perform quality checks on all installation work to ensure adherence to technical standards and client expectations.
• Review and update site drawings throughout project phases.
• Attend client meetings, document key actions, and ensure timely follow-up and implementation.
• Produce all relevant project documentation to meet internal and client standards, including operations and maintenance manuals.
• Generate and implement patching schedules.
• Support urgent installation requirements as needed.

Required Skills & Experience

• Proven experience in the structured cabling industry, particularly within data centre and commercial office environments.
• Strong understanding of cabling installation practices, specifically Cat6/Cat6a systems.
• Familiarity with structured cabling systems used in financial or enterprise-grade environments.
• Experience organising and managing teams in a project-based setting.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and support engineering teams.
• Able to work well under pressure and manage high-volume workloads.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Confident in liaising with clients to understand project needs and deliver solutions accordingly.
