Job summary

ZarraZorra Bakery is looking for a friendly Shop Assistant to join our retail team in Johor Bahru. You will assist customers, handle cashier transactions, restock products, and help maintain a clean, welcoming outlet.

You will work with a supportive team, follow SOPs and safety rules, and develop product knowledge to guide shoppers. Basic Bahasa Malaysia is required, with English an advantage; weekend and holiday shifts are included.

Qualifications

• Previous retail, bakery, cafe, or F&B experience preferred.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Follow SOPs and hygiene requirements.
• Willing to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
• Basic Bahasa Malaysia; English a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers with shopping and inquiries.
• Handle cashier transactions and issue receipts.

ZarraZorra Bakery is looking for a friendly, responsible and customer-focused Shop Assistant to join our retail team.

The Shop Assistant will be responsible for assisting customers, handling cashier transactions, arranging and restocking products, maintaining outlet cleanliness and supporting the daily operations of the shop.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with daily opening preparation and closing activities to ensure smooth shop operations.
• Maintain cleanliness of the cashier counter, floors, display areas, shelves, chillers and other assigned areas.
• Maintain proper personal hygiene, grooming and a clean company uniform at all times while on duty.
• Monitor stock levels and inform the person-in-charge when products, packaging materials or supplies require replenishment.
• Arrange and replenish products on shelves, display counters and chillers in a neat and organized manner.
• Check product condition, shelf life and expiry dates regularly, and remove any damaged, expired or unsuitable products according to company procedures.
• Greet and serve customers in a friendly, polite and professional manner.
• Provide clear and accurate product information and assist customers with enquiries, product selection, promotions and availability.
• Handle customer orders, packing, takeaway and customer pick-up accurately and efficiently.
• Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system, process payments, issue receipts, provide correct change and safeguard cash during the assigned shift.
• Assist with stock receiving, stock counting, wastage records, cashier reconciliation and other outlet documentation when required.
• Follow company SOPs, food hygiene and safety requirements, support promotional activities, and perform other reasonable duties assigned by the supervisor or management.

Requirements

• Previous experience in retail, cashiering, bakery, café, restaurant or F&B operations will be an advantage.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Able to follow instructions, SOPs and food hygiene requirements.
• Willing to work on shifts, weekends and public holidays according to the work schedule.
• Basic Bahasa Malaysia required. Basic English communication skills will be an advantage.
