Job summary

Hongrita Precision Component (M) Sdn Bhd in Penang seeks an experienced Shipping Manager to plan, organize, and coordinate all import/export freight activities, including documentation and schedules. You will oversee day-to-day operations for import, export, customs clearance, and stock receipt/delivery, ensuring SOPs are updated and compliant.

Qualifications

• Minimum S.P.M.; Diploma in Logistics or Supply Chain is an added advantage.
• At least 3 years of logistics/shipping management or relevant experience.
• Knowledge of Forwarding process shipping system and operations.
• Experience handling LMW reports and interaction with Customs.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 and documentation procedures.
• Good interpersonal, communication and reporting skills.
• Commercial and financial awareness with understanding of impact on costs, suppliers and orders.
• Strong analytical, planning and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

Job description

Plan, organize, and coordinate all shipping activities, such as shipping documentation and shipment schedules.

Ensure that all aspects of import/export freight are managed efficiently and effectively to ensure customers’ requirements are met at all times.

Follow up closely on shipping tasks, controls of freight cost, and ensure all documents are updated on time.

Coordinate and work together with various departments to ensure shipping documentation and import/export arrangements are in good order.

To oversee day-to-day shipping operations, including of import, export, customs clearance, and maintenance of all documents pertaining to receipt and issuance of stock and delivery.

Responsible for ensuring all standard operating procedures (SOPs) are updated and regularly reviewed to comply with the guidelines.

Work closely with departmental users and the government to meet all regulatory compliance.

To obtain the freight cost from the forwarder

Responsible for obtaining and following up on shipment schedules and shipment clearance to ensure the timely delivery of goods

Prepare all relevant documents for the export of goods

Manage MITI’s trade agreements for (Form D,E, etc) for relevant countries

Apply and obtain approval for the Chamber of Commerce/Health Certificate/Certificate of Origin

On-time update of import and export freight charges as well as customs declaration data.

Ensure all LMW exemption applications are made in compliance to customs regulations.

Responsible for ensuring the LMW monthly and yearly report and submitted on time before the stipulated deadline from the customs office.

Any other jobs that will be assigned by the supervisor or the Management from time to time, and as and when necessary.

Requirements

Minimum S.P.M., the candidate with a Diploma in Logistics or Supply Chain will be an added advantage.

At least 3 years of logistics/shipping management or relevant working experience.

Knowledge of the Forwarding process shipping system, and operations.

Relevant working experience in handling LMW reports and interaction with the Customs department.

Knowledge of ISO 9001 and documentation procedures.

Good interpersonal, communication skills, and reporting skills.

Commercial and financial awareness with a full understanding of how failures impact the costs, suppliers, and customer orders.

Strong analytical, planning, and problem-solving skills.
