Job summary

TKR Engineering Sdn Bhd is seeking a Service Engineer for Swell/Expandable Packer Services to engineer and deliver reliable packer solutions for zonal isolation and well integrity applications. You will review well data, select configurations, prepare calculations and running procedures, and provide wellsite supervision through installation and closeout.

The role requires 5+ years in swellable/expandable packer equipment, strong English and Bahasa Malaysia, and knowledge of completion

Qualifications

Education: Degree, Master's or PhD in Mechanical, Petroleum, Drilling, Materials, Chemical or another relevant Engineering discipline.
Experience: Minimum five (5) years' directly relevant experience in swellable and/or expandable packer equipment and services.
Language: Good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia (written and spoken).
Technical Knowledge: Completion architecture, zonal isolation, packer mechanics, elastomer and fluid compatibility, casing/open-hole tolerances, downhole load cases, engineering calculations, QA/QC and installation procedures.

Responsibilities

Review the well basis of design, completion schematic, casing or open-hole geometry, trajectory, formation interval, pressure, temperature, fluids, metallurgy and expected service life.
Confirm the isolation objective, deployment constraints, well-barrier requirements and interfaces with drilling, completion, cementing and fluids programmes.
Identify missing or uncertain well data and obtain clarification before final equipment selection or procedure release.
Select the appropriate swellable or expandable packer, mandrel, sealing or anchoring elements within the qualified operating envelope.
Assess elastomer swell response, fluid and temperature compatibility, dimensional clearance, expansion ratio, differential pressure, axial loading and installation risks.
Prepare checked calculations, drawings, equipment lists, running/setting procedures, parameter limits, hold points, acceptance criteria and contingency actions.
Verify equipment identity, serial numbers, material certificates, dimensions, inspection and maintenance status before assembly.
Supervise redress, assembly, drift, function testing, pressure testing, preservation, packing and load-out in accordance with the approved quality plan.
Ensure test equipment is calibrated and that inspection, assembly and traceability records are complete and approved.
Lead pre-job meetings and provide wellsite direction for pick-up, make-up, running, positioning, expansion, activation or setting and installation verification.
Monitor running speed, drag, depth, circulation, pressure, torque, temperature, exposure time and other job-specific parameters.
Coordinate with drilling, completion, cementing, fluids, directional-drilling and rig teams to maintain the approved sequence and well barriers.
Diagnose installation, activation, sealing, dimensional or tool-function problems using actual job data and product limits.
Develop technically justified recovery or contingency recommendations and obtain the required client and management-of-change approvals.
Support equipment-failure reviews, root-cause analysis, corrective action and lessons learned.
Act as the technical focal point for packer application reviews, client clarification, risk assessment and execution readiness.
Prepare service tickets, equipment and test records, installation parameters, non-conformity records, final job reports and recommendations for future wells.
Support technical tenders, presentations, equipment forecasts, local procedures, competency development and continuous improvement.
Ensure selected equipment and operations remain within qualified pressure, temperature, material, load and dimensional limits.
Comply with permit-to-work, JSA/JHA, lifting, pressure-testing, well-control and simultaneous-operations requirements.
Report incidents, near misses, equipment anomalies and service-quality events promptly and support effective corrective action.
Stop preparation or field execution when data or parameters do not support safe installation.
Recommend the packer configuration and contingency actions within product qualification limits, subject to required technical and client approval.
Reject equipment that is damaged or uncertified or unsupported by records.
Review and verify engineering calculations, procedures, drawings and final service documentation before submission.
