Job summary

KMWE Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. seeks a Supplier Quality Engineer to assess and audit suppliers, ensuring compliance with quality requirements across processes and products.

You will lead investigations, CAPA and root-cause analyses using recognized methodologies and work with procurement, engineering and QA teams. Responsibilities include monitoring KPIs, performing on-site buyoffs, and driving continuous improvement in supplier quality, FAI/EVT, and RTS-related activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field; or 4 years of related working experience in supplier qualification/quality management.
• Experience with ISO 9001/13485/AS9100 standards favored.
• Experience in supplier audits, development, CAPA and quality problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Conduct supplier assessments, audits, surveillance and on-site buyoffs to ensure compliance with quality requirements.
• Evaluate supplier quality systems, manufacturing processes, process controls and capabilities.
• Monitor supplier performance including quality KPIs, defect rates, rejection trends and corrective actions.
• Lead supplier quality issue investigations and root cause analysis using 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone and other methodologies.
• Review CAPA and monitor their effectiveness.
• Manage supplier-related quality issues involving FAI, EVT, incoming inspection and assembly.
• Maintain Q-Note/CPAR records and coordinate disposition of non-conforming materials with suppliers.
• Analyze supplier quality data to identify recurring issues and opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with Procurement, Engineering, Manufacturing, QA and Regulatory teams to resolve issues.

Job description

Conduct supplier assessments, audits, surveillance activities and on-site buyoffs to ensure compliance with company quality requirements.

Evaluate supplier quality systems, manufacturing processes, process controls and capabilities.

Monitor supplier performance, including quality KPIs, defect rates, rejection trends and corrective actions.

Conduct Supplier Review Meetings and follow up on improvement actions.

Lead supplier quality issue investigations and root cause analysis using 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone and other problem-solving methodologies.

Review and verify supplier corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) and monitor their effectiveness.

Manage supplier-related quality issues involving FAI, EVT, incoming inspection and assembly.

Maintain Q-Note / CPAR records and coordinate the disposition of non-conforming materials with suppliers.

Analyze supplier quality data to identify recurring issues and opportunities for continuous improvement.

Monitor rejection quantity, material costs and Return to Supplier (RTS) inventory.

Support RTS inventory reduction and supplier quality improvement initiatives.

Work closely with suppliers to establish and maintain Component Quality Plans.

Conduct supplier visits, process verification and improvement activities at critical suppliers.

Support supplier development programs and drive improvement plans with underperforming suppliers.

Collaborate closely with Procurement, Engineering, Manufacturing, QA and Regulatory teams to resolve supplier-related quality and technical issues.

Participate in internal and customer quality meetings and follow up on supplier-related action items.

Perform other assignments as required by the Head of Department or Manager.

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field; or 4 years of related working experience in supplier qualification, supplier quality and quality management; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Good knowledge and understanding of ISO 9001, ISO 13485 and AS9100 standards.

Experience in supplier audits, supplier development, CAPA, FAI and quality problem-solving will be an advantage.

Familiar with quality tools and methodologies such as 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone Analysis and Root Cause Analysis.

Strong analytical, failure analysis, negotiation and problem-solving skills.

Good written and verbal communication skills.

Highly organized, detail-oriented and able to work independently with minimum supervision.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with suppliers and cross-functional teams.

Self-motivated with a strong commitment to quality excellence and continuous improvement.
