Job summary

KMWE Malaysia Sdn Bhd is seeking a capable Manufacturing/Project Engineer to manage projects from initiation through mass production in a precision engineering environment. You will collaborate with Design, Engineering, Production, Quality and Supply Chain teams to ensure deliverables meet customer requirements and manufacturing feasibility.

The role involves design reviews, NPI support, process optimization and safety compliance, with a focus on cost reduction and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics or Electrical & Electronic Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years of related experience and training in product design or manufacturing engineering.
• Experience with project management, NPI and engineering standard operating procedures.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end project lifecycle from initiation to mass production.
• Coordinate with Design, Engineering, Production, Quality and Supply Chain teams to ensure deliverables.
• Review customer requirements, engineering drawings and specifications for feasibility.
• Provide engineering support for assembly methods and process improvements.
• Prepare and maintain process flow, work instructions, and control plans.
• Act as the key contact for customers on project status and engineering changes.
• Liaise with suppliers on material procurement and subcontracted processes.
• Conduct design reviews and coordinate customer approvals.
• Support NPI, process validation, corrective actions and ECOs.
• Collaborate with Quality to resolve non-conformities and drive improvement.
• Monitor project costs and identify cost reduction opportunities.
• Assist make-or-buy decisions through cost-benefit analysis.
• Optimize manufacturing processes to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
• Ensure compliance with safety procedures and regulations.
• Perform other duties and ad-hoc assignments as required.

Job description

Manage end-to-end project lifecycle from project initiation to mass production, including scope, schedule, resources, risks and costs.

Coordinate with Design, Engineering, Production, Quality and Supply Chain teams to ensure project deliverables are achieved.

Review customer requirements, engineering drawings and specifications to ensure manufacturing feasibility.

Provide engineering support for assembly methods, manufacturing processes and production cycle time improvement.

Prepare and maintain process flow, work instructions, control plans and other project-related documentation.

Act as the key contact for customers on project status, technical matters and engineering changes.

Liaise with suppliers on material procurement, component validation and subcontracted processes.

Conduct design reviews and coordinate customer approvals where required.

Support NPI, process validation, corrective actions and implementation of engineering changes.

Work with Quality to resolve non-conformities and drive continuous improvement.

Monitor project costs and identify opportunities for cost reduction and process optimization.

Support make-or-buy decisions through cost-benefit analysis.

Optimize manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, reduce cycle time and minimize waste.

Ensure compliance with company safety procedures, rules and regulations.

Perform other duties and ad-hoc assignments as assigned by the superior.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics or Electrical & Electronic Engineering; or

2 years or more of related experience and training; or equivalent combination of education

and experience.

Experience in product design and/or manufacturing engineering is preferred.

Knowledge of Project Management, NPI and engineering standard operating procedures.

Good knowledge of BOM, TPD, ECN, FMEA and GD&T.

Proficient in Unigraphics NX and CATIA V5.

Strong analytical and investigative mindset with the ability to develop practical engineering solutions.

Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with internal teams and external customers.

Confident, proactive and able to take ownership of projects and manage challenging situations.

Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
