Job summary

Oriental Fastech Manufacturing in Penang is seeking an experienced procurement professional to oversee sourcing, purchasing and material planning within a manufacturing environment.

You will manage supplier relationships, perform RFQs/POs, lead price negotiations and monitor supplier performance (QCD) to ensure quality, cost efficiency and on-time delivery. Strong ERP and Excel skills and 5+ years of relevant experience are required.

Qualifications

• Diploma/Degree in Supply Chain, Purchasing, Business, Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Sourcing, Purchasing or Procurement, preferably in manufacturing.
• Strong supplier sourcing, negotiation and cost management skills.
• Good understanding of materials, manufacturing processes and technical requirements.

Responsibilities

• Identify, evaluate and develop new suppliers based on quality, cost, and capability.
• Manage existing suppliers and maintain strong relationships.
• Source materials, components, tooling and services as required.
• Handle purchase requisitions, RFQs, POs and supplier follow-ups.
• Ensure purchases meet quality, quantity, price and delivery targets.
• Analyze quotes and perform price comparisons.
• Lead price negotiations and cost-reduction initiatives.
• Monitor supplier performance (QCD).
• Maintain purchasing records and supplier databases.
• Mentor junior team members and support daily purchasing activities.

This role encompasses sourcing and supplier management, purchasing and material planning, cost and commercial management, supplier quality and performance monitoring, reporting and compliance, and team collaboration across cross-functional departments in a manufacturing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, evaluate and develop new suppliers based on quality, cost, delivery and capability
• Manage existing suppliers and maintain strong supplier relationships
• Source materials, components, tooling and services according to company requirements
• Manage purchase requisitions, RFQs, purchase orders and supplier follow-ups
• Ensure materials are purchased at the right quality, quantity, price and delivery time
• Obtain and analyze supplier quotations and conduct price comparisons
• Lead price negotiation, cost reduction and commercial improvement initiatives
• Monitor supplier performance including Quality, Cost and Delivery (QCD)
• Maintain purchasing records, supplier database and sourcing documentation
• Guide junior purchasing/sourcing team members and support daily purchasing activities

About you

• Diploma/Degree in Supply Chain Management, Purchasing, Business, Engineering or related field
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Sourcing, Purchasing or Procurement, preferably in manufacturing
• Strong supplier sourcing, negotiation and cost management skills
• Good understanding of materials, manufacturing processes and technical requirements
• Strong analytical, communication and problem-solving skills
• Experience with ERP systems and Microsoft Office, especially Excel
• Able to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• Experience in Sheet Metal, CNC Machining, Precision Engineering or Industrial Manufacturing is an advantage
• Mandarin speaking is an advantage for communication with China-based suppliers
• Willing to travel for supplier visits or business requirements when necessary
