Job summary

Randstad Malaysia is seeking a skilled automation engineer to lead complex Industry 4.0, ASRS and robotics projects across semiconductor and E&E sectors. You will own projects with direct visibility to top management and coordinate regionally across Northern Malaysia, Klang Valley and Southeast Asia.

You will translate client challenges into feasible automation architectures, guiding technical discovery, concept design and bidding proposals with a strong business development perspective.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering field.
• 5+ years hands-on automation system design experience.
• Experience with ASRS, AMR/AGVs, and conveyor systems.
• Ability to create 2D/3D layouts and simulate material flow.
• Strong consultative mindset to define technical requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead on-site technical surveys, throughput calculations, and equipment sizing for factory automation.
• Design concept layouts in 2D AutoCAD and develop 3D simulation models using tools like Visual Components or FlexSim.
• Build detailed engineering proposals, BOMs, cost models, and risk assessments.
• Partner with BD team during client presentations to explain system feasibility and value.
• Hand over awarded projects to execution with complete technical specs.

You will turn client operational challenges into functional, cost-accurate automation system architectures. This role bridges business development and engineering by leading technical discovery, concept design, and bidding proposals.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead on-site technical surveys, throughput calculations, and equipment sizing for factory automation.

• Design concept layouts in 2D AutoCAD and develop 3D simulation models using tools like Visual Components or FlexSim.

• Build detailed engineering proposals, preliminary Bill of Materials (BOM), cost models, and project risk assessments.

• Partner with the business development team during client presentations to explain system feasibility and value.

• Hand over awarded projects cleanly to the project execution department with complete technical specifications.

Skills & Experience Required

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Industrial Engineering.

• At least 5 years of hands‑on experience in automation system design, intralogistics, or material handling solutions.

• Strong working knowledge of ASRS, AMR/AGVs, conveyor systems, and industrial software integration (WMS/WCS/MMS).

• Proven capability in creating 2D/3D layout designs and material flow simulations.

• Strong consultative mindset with the ability to structure technical requirements independently.
