Job summary

AmBank Group in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, is seeking an experienced Business Credit Risk Evaluator to assess SME/Commercial lending applications and provide well-supported recommendations for approval.

You will identify risks, ensure adherence to credit policies, and collaborate with Sales and underwriting teams to support timely decisions. A degree in finance or related fields, plus 5 years of banking experience, is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accountancy, Economics, or related discipline, or professional qualifications such as ACCA, CPA or CIMA.
• Minimum 5 years of banking experience, preferably in SME and/or Commercial credit/lending.
• Strong knowledge of credit assessment, financial analysis, risk evaluation and credit policies.
• Strong analytical, credit writing, and stakeholder management skills.
• Front-line banking experience will be an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Assess and evaluate credit applications across the SME Banking portfolio.
• Identify key credit risks and recommend appropriate credit decisions to the relevant Approving Authority.
• Maintain high standards of credit underwriting quality while meeting established turnaround times.
• Ensure compliance with credit policies, guidelines, grading requirements, and approved parameters.
• Identify opportunities to enhance existing credit policies and guidelines.
• Partner with Sales and conduct joint customer calls, where required, to gain a deeper understanding of customers’ businesses and financing needs.
• Work closely with the Team Lead / Senior Underwriter and other stakeholders to support sound and timely credit decisions.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accountancy, Economics, or related discipline
