Job summary

VALSER SYNERGY SDN. BHD. is seeking a Proposal Engineer to prepare technical and commercial proposals for valve and valve automation packages, including control valves, on/off valves, actuated valves, and accessories.

The role involves reviewing RFQs and specifications, performing valve selection and sizing for liquids, gases, and steam, coordinating with Sales, Procurement, Engineering, and Project teams to ensure compliant and competitive proposals and timely submission.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 4–6 years of relevant experience in Proposal Engineering, Applications Engineering, Sales Engineering, or Project Engineering.
• Proven experience with control valves, on/off valves, actuated valves, and valve automation packages.

Job description

The Proposal Engineer will be responsible for preparing technical and commercial proposals for valve and valve automation packages, including control valves, on/off valves, actuated valves, and associated accessories. This role involves reviewing customer RFQs and technical specifications, performing valve and actuator selection and sizing, preparing competitive quotations, and coordinating with customers, suppliers, Sales, Procurement, Engineering, and Project teams to ensure technically compliant and commercially competitive proposals.

Key Responsibilities

• Review RFQs, ITBs, P&IDs, valve datasheets, valve lists, equipment specifications, and other customer/EPC requirements
• Prepare technical and commercial proposals for control valves, on/off valves, actuated valves, and valve automation packages
• Perform valve selection and sizing for liquid, gas, and steam applications and verify sizing calculations generated by software
• Select and size suitable pneumatic, electric, hydraulic, and Gas Over Oil actuators based on application requirements
• Determine suitable valve automation accessories, including solenoid valves, limit switches, positioners, air filter regulators, manual overrides, local control stations, and associated tubing
• Prepare technical compliance statements, deviation lists, technical clarifications, BOM/MTO, and quotation documentation
• Obtain, review, and evaluate supplier quotations to ensure technical compliance, competitive pricing, and acceptable lead times
• Estimate material, actuator, accessory, testing, documentation, and other package-related costs
• Identify technical, commercial, contractual, and delivery risks prior to proposal submission
• Coordinate with customers/EPCs on technical clarifications and provide suitable technical solutions
• Work closely with Sales, Procurement, Engineering, suppliers, and Project teams throughout the proposal process
• Support technical clarification meetings and ensure proposals are submitted accurately and within the required timeline

About You

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering field
• Minimum 4–6 years of relevant experience in Proposal Engineering, Applications Engineering, Sales Engineering, or Project Engineering
• Proven experience with control valves, on/off valves, actuated valves, and valve automation packages
• Experience supporting EPC, Oil & Gas, petrochemical, chemical, power, or related process industries
• Strong understanding of valve selection and sizing for liquid, gas, and steam applications, including the ability to perform and explain manual sizing calculations
• Experienced in actuator selection and sizing, including pneumatic, electric, hydraulic, and Gas Over Oil actuators
• Good understanding of double-acting and spring-return actuators, fail-open/fail-close requirements, actuator torque/thrust, and applicable safety factors
• Familiar with complete actuated valve packages and associated automation accessories
• Able to interpret P&IDs, valve datasheets, valve lists, equipment specifications, and project specifications
• Working knowledge of relevant API, ASME, IEC, ISO, and customer/EPC standards
• Knowledge of hazardous-area, fire-safe, SIL, NACE, and other application-specific requirements will be an added advantage
• Strong technical, analytical, costing, negotiation, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills
• Able to independently manage multiple RFQs and proposals within tight submission deadlines
• Self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently as well as within a cross-functional team
