Job summary

Contacthings Solution Sdn Bhd is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead automation projects across planning to execution in a semiconductor and industrial automation setting.

You will coordinate mechanical, software, assembly and procurement teams, manage scope, timeline and budget, and ensure quality and regulatory compliance across projects. The role emphasizes strong communication with customers and suppliers and driving process improvements.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage multiple automation projects from kickoff through deployment.
• Coordinate Mechanical, Software, Assembly and Procurement functions for smooth execution.
• Monitor schedules, costs, risks and deliverables with mitigation planning.
• Act as primary contact between customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Lead project meetings, progress reviews and reporting for visibility and decisions.
• Oversee planning, procurement, FAT/SAT, installation, integration and commissioning.
• Ensure compliance with CE, UL, SEMI, IEC, and other standards.
• Prepare technical documentation and liaise with certification bodies.
• Drive engineering process improvements and SOPs.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer to lead and manage automation projects from planning to execution within the semiconductor and industrial automation environment. This role acts as the key coordinator between engineering teams, customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and according to technical and quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage multiple automation projects from kickoff through deployment, ensuring delivery within scope, timeline, budget, and quality expectations.
• Coordinate cross-functional teams across Mechanical, Software, Assembly, and Procurement functions to ensure smooth project execution.
• Monitor project schedules, resources, costs, risks, and deliverables while proactively resolving issues and implementing mitigation plans.
• Serve as the primary point of contact between customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure effective communication and alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
• Lead project meetings, technical discussions, progress reviews, and management reporting to provide clear project visibility and timely decision-making.
• Oversee project planning, procurement, FAT/SAT, installation, system integration, and commissioning activities while ensuring compliance with customer and quality requirements.
• Lead machine compliance and certification activities (CE, UL, SEMI, IEC, etc.).
• Prepare technical documentation and liaise with certification bodies.
• Drive internal engineering process improvements, SOPs, and standardization.
• Identify and manage relevant government grants, R&D funding, and incentive applications.

Requirements

• Diploma’s or Bachelor’s in mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, or equivalent.
• Minimum 3-4 years of experience in automation, semiconductor equipment, or project management environment.
• Strong technical understanding of automation systems, machine integration, and end-to-end engineering workflows from design to commissioning.
• Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects effectively while working under tight timelines in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to coordinate and align cross-functional teams and external partners.
