Job summary

Minconsult Sdn Bhd in Malaysia is seeking a Senior Engineer (Civil & Structural) to lead the design and delivery of civil and structural projects within our consultancy practice. You will review technical deliverables, coordinate with clients and multidisciplinary teams, and oversee execution to meet standards, timelines, and budgets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering; Master’s degree is a plus.
• Registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) or equivalent.
• 6–10 years of civil and structural design and project delivery experience.
• Experience in consultancy and coordination of design projects is strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of structural analysis, codes, construction methods, and standards.
• Proficiency in multiple design software applications (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ETABS, etc.).

Job description

The Senior Engineer (Civil & Structural) is responsible for leading and delivering civil and structural engineering projects, with a preference for candidates with experience in consultancy engineering. The role involves managing engineering design, reviewing technical deliverables, coordinating with clients and multidisciplinary teams, and overseeing project execution to ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards, project specifications, timelines, and budgetary requirements.

The successful candidate should possess strong technical expertise in civil and structural engineering design, proficiency in relevant engineering software, and the ability to provide technical leadership across various infrastructure and building projects.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage civil and structural engineering design works for infrastructure, building, transportation, and other related projects.

Undertake and review structural analysis, design calculations, engineering drawings, and technical specifications to ensure accuracy, safety, and compliance with applicable codes and standards.

Develop engineering solutions for foundations, reinforced concrete structures, steel structures, and other civil and structural components.

Coordinate with clients, architects, other engineering disciplines, contractors, and relevant authorities throughout the project lifecycle.

Review design submissions, technical reports, tender documents, and project specifications to ensure compliance with client requirements and project objectives.

Conduct site inspections and provide technical support during construction to resolve design issues and ensure compliance with approved drawings and specifications.

Manage project deliverables, schedules, resources, and technical quality to meet agreed deadlines.

Identify potential engineering and design risks and recommend appropriate mitigation measures.

Provide technical guidance, design reviews, and mentorship to junior engineers and other team members.

Ensure compliance with relevant Malaysian standards, local authority requirements, and applicable international codes of practice.

Participate in technical meetings, client presentations, and project discussions to communicate design progress, technical issues, and proposed solutions.

Qualifications and Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or an equivalent qualification. A Master’s Degree is an added advantage.

Registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) or an equivalent professional body.

Minimum 6–10 years of relevant working experience in civil and structural engineering design and project delivery.

Experience in engineering consultancy is strongly preferred, particularly in civil and structural design, design coordination, and consultancy project delivery.

Strong technical knowledge of structural analysis, design principles, construction methods, and applicable engineering standards.

Proficiency in at least two (2) of the following engineering software applications is : AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Plaxis 3D, ETABS, Tekla, STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, SAFE and more

Experience in preparing and reviewing engineering calculations, drawings, technical reports, and design documentation.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, project coordination, and technical leadership skills.

Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients, consultants, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.

Ability to manage multiple project deliverables and work effectively under tight deadlines.
