Job summary

PEM Fasteners in Malaysia is seeking a seasoned Manufacturing Department Head to plan and lead our production function. The role focuses on setting department objectives, driving throughput, and ensuring safety and quality across processes.

The ideal candidate will bring 10 years of manufacturing leadership, a mechanical engineering degree, and hands-on experience with metal stamping and Lean practices. Fluency in Malay and English plus strong MS Office skills are required.

Qualifications

• Must have at least a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical) or equivalent.
• At least 10 years of manufacturing experience leading technicians and operators.
• Experience in metal stamping and lean manufacturing is an added advantage.
• Self-starter, hands-on, multitasker with strong leadership under pressure.
• Strong communication skills in Malay and English; proficient in MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Plan and establish department objectives and KPIs in line with policy.
• Strategize and monitor product movement to maximize throughput and minimize idle time.
• Lead production staff and operators, planning for skills development.
• Participate in new production processes and machinery setup with process engineering.
• Observe and monitor processes to improve quality, efficiency and profitability.
• Uphold safety, discipline and housekeeping across the work area.
• Review cycle times to determine appropriate output targets.
• Conduct staff training and development for technical skills and continuous improvement.
• Other duties as assigned.

Responsible to plan and establish department objectives, goals and target in-line with company policy and KPI.

Planned, strategized and monitored products movement to achieve maximum throughput, minimum idle time and maintain line linearity.

Lead a team of production staffs & operators and plan for their job improvement.

Proactively participate in new production processes and machinery set up together with process engineering team.

Observe & monitor production processes to improve quality, efficiency and overall profitability of production operations.

Ensure and uphold safety, discipline and housekeeping compliance in work area by all personnel and take action on violations.

Review process cycle time periodically to determine the right output target.

Responsible for department staff training and development, inclusive of technical skills, knowledge and competency. Also motivate staff to support on continuous improvement projects.

Any other duties as assigned from time to time.

Requirements

Candidate must possess at least a Post Graduate Diploma, Professional Degree, Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical) or equivalent.

Minimum 10 years’ experience in manufacturing environment leading a team of technicians and operators in delivering output, quality and cost improvement goals.

Experience in metal stamping and with Lean Manufacturing experience will be an added advantage.

A self-starter, hands-on person and willing to multitask and to take on additional responsibilities.

Strong management skill, aggressive, result oriented with the ability to work under pressure.

Good leadership and communication skills

Good command of both Malay and English and MS office skills.
