Job summary

TECAN CDMO Solutions PN Sdn. Bhd. is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our R&D team, designing components and subsystems for automated liquid handling and life sciences instrumentation platforms, working with cross-functional teams in Switzerland and the US.

You will lead new product development from concept through prototype, perform tolerance analysis, DFMEA, and contribute to design for manufacturing and regulatory processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent.
• Solid mechatronic knowledge and practical experience as a Mechanical Engineer in R&D/new product development, preferably in MedTech or life sciences instrumentation.
• Experience taking products from concept and prototype through to design transfer, not limited to sustaining or manufacturing engineering.
• Hands-on experience designing precision mechanisms, motion systems, robotics, or fluidics.
• Familiarity with ISO 13485 design control processes is a plus.
• Strong knowledge in Value Engineering and Design for Manufacturing (DFM).
• Team player able to handle technical and entrepreneurial responsibilities.
• Very good Creo/Windchill and SolidWorks skills are a significant advantage.

• Perform tolerance stack-up analysis and GD&T for new designs, materials selection, and FEA/simulation as needed.
• Drive DFMEA and DV&V activities for new products.
• Maintain project documentation and collaborate with internal stakeholders and partners.

In this varied and exciting role, you will work as the responsible Mechanical Engineer within a dedicated R&D team that develops customer specific prototypes and small series. You will be designing components and subsystems for Tecan's next generation automated liquid handling and life sciences instrumentation platforms, operating with a customer centric, lean, and agile mindset, and collaborating closely with R&D teams in Switzerland and the US.

Lead diverse new product development and design engineering activities, contributing technical expertise to R&D projects from concept through prototype

Carry out hands on design iterations and small adaptations in the prototype workshop

Define and apply modern development methodologies to generate forward looking, innovative solutions

Perform tolerance stack up analysis and GD&T for new designs, materials selection, and FEA / simulation as needed

Drive DFMEA and design verification & validation (DV&V) activities for new products

Maintain comprehensive project documentation and collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, external customers, and development partners

Your Profile

Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent

Solid mechatronic knowledge and proven practical experience as a Mechanical Engineer in R&D / new product development, preferably in MedTech, life sciences instrumentation, or a comparable regulated industry

Demonstrated experience taking products from concept and prototype through to design transfer, not limited to sustaining or manufacturing engineering of existing products

Hands on experience designing precision mechanisms, motion systems, robotics, or fluidics

Familiarity with ISO 13485 design control processes is a plus

Strong know how in Value Engineering and Design for Manufacturing (DFM)

A team player ready to take on both technical and entrepreneurial responsibility

Very good Creo / Windchill and SolidWorks skills are a significant advantage
