Job summary

TECAN CDMO Solutions PN Sdn. Bhd. in Penang is seeking an R&D Mechanical Design Engineer (Automation) to lead design of components for automated liquid handling platforms, collaborating with R&D teams in Switzerland and the US.

You will drive DFMEA and DV&V, perform tolerance analysis, apply GD&T, and push for innovative, manufacturable designs while maintaining documentation and working with customers and partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent.
• Experience in R&D / new product development, preferably in MedTech or life sciences instrumentation.
• Automation experience would be an added advantage.
• Experience taking products from concept and prototype through to design transfer.
• Familiarity with ISO 13485 design control processes is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design components and subsystems for automation platforms.
• Lead diverse new product development and design engineering activities from concept through prototype.
• Carry out hands-on design iterations in the prototype workshop.
• Define and apply modern development methodologies to generate innovative solutions.
• Perform tolerance stack-up analysis and GD&T for new designs and materials selection.
• Drive DFMEA and design verification & validation (DV&V) activities for new products.
• Maintain comprehensive project documentation and collaborate with stakeholders and partners.
