Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD software.
• Deep knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Hands-on experience with sheet metal fabrication and equipment/enclosures.
• Familiarity with automation systems or semiconductor equipment is highly preferred.
• Experience with PCB integration or mechanical packaging is an advantage.
• Experience with FEA/CFD or other simulations is an advantage.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design and development of new products from concept to production release.

Role Overview

We are hiring a Mechanical Design Lead (R&D) on behalf of our client, a technology company specializing in Automated Test Systems (ATS) and related equipment for semiconductor and industrial applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design and development of new products from concept through production release.
• Lead and mentor a small team of Mechanical Engineers and provide technical direction throughout projects.
• Design and develop mechanical systems for automated test equipment, including enclosures, sheet metal chassis, mechanisms, fixtures, and related assemblies.
• Perform engineering analysis including tolerance stack-up, structural calculations, component sizing, and simulation where applicable.
• Apply GD&T, DFM, DFA, DFR, and DFC principles to achieve product performance, quality, reliability, and cost targets.
• Develop prototypes and coordinate verification, validation, reliability, and characterization testing.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for design and manufacturing issues.
• Collaborate with Electrical, Hardware, Software, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and external partners throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Prepare and maintain engineering documentation including specifications, drawings, test plans, reports, and engineering change documentation.
• Drive continuous improvement through new technologies, design methodologies, simulation tools, and AI-assisted engineering workflows.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or above in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in mechanical product development, preferably within R&D, semiconductor equipment, automation, or related manufacturing environments.
• Proven experience in leading complex mechanical design or product development projects.
• Experience leading, supervising, or mentoring a team of engineers.
• Strong proficiency in SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD software.
• Strong knowledge of precision mechanical design, GD&T, tolerance analysis, material selection, and manufacturing processes.
• Hands-on experience with sheet metal fabrication, mechanical assemblies, and equipment/enclosure design.
• Experience in automation systems, semiconductor equipment, automated test systems, or precision industrial equipment is highly preferred.
• Experience with PCB integration or mechanical packaging for electronic equipment is an advantage.
• Experience with FEA, CFD, or other engineering simulation tools is an advantage.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
