Job summary

Jabil is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the development of PCBA functional test equipment, including FCT and ATE systems. The role covers concept development, 3D modelling, BOM creation, and assembly documentation.

You will work on high-speed, short-stroke motion systems, tight tolerances, and precision alignment to ensure reliable testing and rapid automated production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years' hands-on experience in independent mechanical design of PCBA test equipment, test fixtures, ATE, or FCT systems.
• Proficient in SolidWorks for 3D modelling, assembly modelling and 2D drawings.
• Strong knowledge of PCBA testing mechanisms and probe compression.
• Experience with precision motion components and pneumatic systems.
• Ability to assess tolerances and ensure repeatable fixture performance.

Responsibilities

• Develop complete mechanical design concepts, equipment layouts, and compression mechanisms for PCBA testing.
• Design and develop key testing mechanisms like probe compression, quick-opening fixtures, and precise positioning systems.
• Create 3D models, assembly designs, and 2D drawings; prepare BOMs and manufacturing instructions.
• Apply engineering principles to ensure reliable test fixture performance and define travel limits.
• Coordinate assembly, pilot runs, commissioning, and troubleshooting of equipment.
• Drive continuous improvement to reduce weight, improve reliability, and enhance maintenance.
