Job summary

Comet Plasma Control Technologies in Penang seeks a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to lead NPI and optimize production processes for high-tech components used in memory chips and sensors. You will drive continuous improvement with Lean, Six Sigma, and DFM/RCAs; collaborate with cross-functional teams on transfers, tooling, and automation, and coach teams toward quality-first outcomes.

A 5+ year background in semiconductor equipment manufacturing and strong SAP, CAD tools is required; hybrid

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Mechatronics.
• 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience, preferably in NPI.
• Experience in semiconductor equipment manufacturing; knowledge of HLA and electronics processes.
• Hands-on with Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, SPC, Minitab/JMP and process optimization.

Responsibilities

• Lead new product introduction (NPI) activities from prototype to full-scale production.
• Develop, optimize, and validate manufacturing processes and BOMs; produce documentation.
• Drive continuous improvement to reduce cycle time and increase productivity using Lean/Six Sigma.
• Investigate manufacturing issues via RCCA, DFM and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on global product transfers, capacity planning, tooling and automation.

To complement our team, we are looking for a customer-and teamoriented individual for our division Plasma Control Technologies at the Penang site as a

Senior Manufacturing Engineer

In the Plasma Control Technologies (PCT) division, we manufacture specialized components that are required for the precise control of plasma processes and are used in the production of memory chips or touch screens for sensors, smartphones or tablets.

What You Will Do

• Lead new product introduction (NPI) activities, ensuring smooth product transfers from prototype to full-scale production.
• Develop, optimize, and validate manufacturing processes, assembly instructions (OMS), BOMs, and production documentation to improve quality and efficiency.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, JIT, Kanban, and Six Sigma methodologies to reduce cycle time and increase productivity.
• Investigate manufacturing issues through root cause analysis (RCCA), Design for Manufacturability (DFM), and implement effective corrective actions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support global product transfers, capacity planning, tooling and automation improvements, and production readiness.

What You Bring

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field, with 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience, preferably in NPI.
• Proven experience in semiconductor equipment manufacturing with strong knowledge of High-Level Assembly (HLA) and electronics manufacturing processes.
• Hands-on expertise in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, SPC, Minitab/JMP, and manufacturing process optimization.
• Strong technical skills in SAP, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and project management tools such as JIRA, with experience managing BOMs and manufacturing documentation.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills with a proactive, quality-first mindset and the ability to coach teams and drive continuous improvement.
