Job summary

Adecco Malaysia, for our client in the semiconductor sector, seeks a Senior Manager, Engineering Operations to lead the engineering function at its Klang Valley plant. You will drive engineering strategy, resource planning, cost reduction programs, and capability development while ensuring alignment with global business objectives.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's in Engineering (Master's a plus), 10+ years in engineering/R&D or operations leadership, strong leadership and communication

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in Engineering, R&D, Sustaining Engineering, Project Management, or Operations leadership.
• Experience leading engineering teams and driving strategic initiatives, KPI achievement, and project execution.

Responsibilities

• Lead sustaining engineering strategies aligned with global R&D and product group objectives.
• Manage engineering resources, budgets, manpower planning, and project execution to achieve targets.
• Drive product sustaining activities, engineering improvements, and cost reduction programs.
• Build and develop a high-performing engineering team through coaching and succession planning.
• Ensure compliance with internal processes, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Support roadmaps by providing technical direction and capability planning.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Operations, and global stakeholders to deliver objectives.
• Oversee engineering documentation and escalation handling.
• Drive continuous improvement to enhance quality, reliability, and efficiency.
• Represent the Malaysia engineering organization in engagements with customers and partners.

Our client, a leading multinational in the semiconductor industry, is seeking a Senior Manager, Engineering Operations to lead the engineering function for its Malaysia plant based in Klang Valley. This role will be responsible for driving engineering strategy, resource planning, product support, cost reduction initiatives, and organizational capability development while ensuring alignment with global business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and execute sustaining engineering strategies in alignment with global R&D and product group objectives.
• Manage engineering resources, budgets, manpower planning, and project execution to achieve business and operational targets.
• Drive product sustaining activities, engineering improvements, and cost reduction programs.
• Build and develop a high-performing engineering team through coaching, talent development, and succession planning.
• Ensure engineering activities comply with internal processes, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Support product roadmaps by providing technical direction and capability planning.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Operations, Technical Support, and global stakeholders to deliver engineering objectives.
• Oversee technical support escalations and ensure engineering documentation is properly maintained.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, reliability, and operational efficiency.
• Represent the Malaysia engineering organization in engagements with customers, suppliers, and external partners.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related discipline. Master's Degree/MBA is an added advantage.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in Engineering, R&D, Sustaining Engineering, Project Management, or Operations leadership.
• Proven experience leading engineering teams and driving strategic initiatives, KPI achievement, and project execution.
• Strong knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing, including Front-End and Back-End processes.
• Strong business acumen, problem-solving, and analytical capabilities.
• Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills.
• Fluent in English; Mandarin proficiency is an added advantage.
• Results-oriented, adaptable, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Willing to travel as required for business transfer knowledge within APAC region.
• Strong people leadership and coaching skills.
• Experience managing engineering budgets and resources.
• Proven track record in driving operational excellence and continuous improvement.
