Job summary

Jora Malaysia is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to own activities across machinery, processes, and maintenance support, strengthening production capability and equipment reliability.

You will lead day-to-day engineering, drive continuous improvement, and coordinate with Production, Quality and Management to meet output and quality targets.

Qualifications

• Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics or a related technical discipline.
• Relevant experience in a manufacturing environment with strong exposure to manufacturing processes.
• Experience in process improvement, machine troubleshooting and problem-solving.
• Knowledge of preventive maintenance and root-cause analysis.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day manufacturing engineering activities supporting machining, production equipment and processes.
• Review existing manufacturing processes and identify opportunities to improve productivity, cycle time, quality, yield and overall equipment effectiveness.
• Troubleshoot recurring machine, tooling, process and technical issues and implement sustainable corrective actions.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives involving process optimisation, machine capability, workflow, tooling and manufacturing methods.
• Work closely with Production to ensure machines, processes and technical resources meet output and quality requirements.
• Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance activities to improve equipment reliability and minimise unplanned downtime.
• Analyse machine breakdowns and recurring equipment issues using structured root-cause analysis.
• Support machinery upgrades, modification, installation, commissioning and CAPEX projects.
• Develop and improve engineering standards, work instructions, process parameters and technical documentation.
• Evaluate manufacturing equipment, tooling and engineering solutions from technical and commercial perspectives.
• Liaise with equipment suppliers, contractors and technical service providers for maintenance, improvement and engineering projects.
• Support facility, utility and plant-related technical matters where engineering involvement is required.
• Promote preventive engineering practices rather than relying primarily on reactive maintenance.
• Coach technicians, operators and junior engineering personnel on machine capability, troubleshooting and good engineering practices.
• Work closely with Quality, Production and Management to resolve manufacturing constraints and strengthen overall operational performance.
• Support longer-term engineering capability development and progressively assume broader ownership of the plant's engineering function.

What You'll Be Doing

Take ownership of manufacturing engineering activities across machinery, processes, technical improvement and maintenance support, while strengthening production capability, equipment reliability and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day manufacturing engineering activities supporting machining, production equipment and manufacturing processes.
• Review existing manufacturing processes and identify opportunities to improve productivity, cycle time, quality, yield and overall equipment effectiveness.

What We're Looking For

• Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics or a related technical discipline.
• Approximately 7–10 years of relevant engineering experience within a manufacturing environment, preferably with several years at senior engineer level.
• Strong exposure to manufacturing processes, production machinery, machining or precision engineering environments.
• Practical experience in process improvement, machine troubleshooting and manufacturing problem-solving.
• Sound understanding of preventive maintenance, equipment reliability and root-cause analysis.
• Exposure to CNC machining, grinding, cutting tools, tooling, metalworking or other precision manufacturing processes would be advantageous.
• Experience handling machine installation, modification, improvement or CAPEX-related engineering projects is preferred.Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, OEE, TPM or similar continuous-improvement methodologies.
• Strong hands-on engineering orientation with the ability to work effectively on the production floor.
• Able to coordinate across Production, Maintenance, Quality, suppliers and management.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving capability.
• Able to work independently and progressively take broader ownership of the engineering function.
• Good communication skills in English; additional language capability is advantageous.
