Overseeing end-to-end inbound logistics and import operations to ensure the timely, compliant, and cost-effective movement of goods. The role manages shipment coordination, import documentation, customs clearance, carrier and Third-Party Logistics (3PL) performance, and warehouse collaboration to support seamless inbound operations. The incumbent also drives cost optimization, supplier and carrier relationship management, contract compliance, performance reporting, and continuous process improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, service quality, and overall supply chain performance.
Key Roles/Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end inbound logistics operations, including shipment planning, tracking, coordination, and execution to ensure timely arrivals, smooth importation, and effective communication with suppliers, freight forwarders, carriers, customs brokers, warehouse teams, and other internal and external stakeholders.
- Oversee all import documentation, customs clearance, permits, and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance with government regulations, trade requirements, and company policies while minimizing clearance delays and operational disruptions.
- Monitor shipment progress, proactively resolve logistics issues, negotiate shipment free time, and coordinate with all relevant parties to ensure uninterrupted inbound operations and on-time delivery.
- Manage relationships with carriers and Third-Party Logistics (3PL) service providers, including contract administration, performance monitoring, KPI compliance, carrier scorecard development, structured business reviews, and contract negotiations to ensure service excellence and cost competitiveness.
- Analyze inbound logistics costs, prepare operational and management reports including freight costs, monthly shipment arrivals, and logistics performance metrics, while identifying opportunities to improve cost efficiency and optimize transportation spending.
- Collaborate with warehouse and inventory teams to optimize receiving schedules, warehouse capacity, and stock allocation across multiple warehouse locations, ensuring efficient inbound flow and inventory availability.
- Identify, develop, and implement continuous process improvements, operational best practices, and cost-saving initiatives to enhance logistics efficiency, service quality, compliance, and overall supply chain performance.
Skills/Qualifications
- Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience in the logistics and FMCG industry.
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing a minimum of 2-3 direct reports.
- Excellent communication skills both written and oral.
- Decision-making, problem-solving and analytical skills.
- PC skills including proficiency in use of MS Word & Excel.
- Strong knowledge of SAP.
