ADVANCED ENERGY INDUSTRIES (MALAYSIA) SDN. BHD. is seeking a Failure Analysis Engineer to support analysis methods, design test fixtures, and drive yield improvements across manufacturing processes.
The role interfaces with product development, engineering, and factory teams to resolve failures and improve product reliability. The candidate should have a strong background in electronics, PCBs, and manufacturing, with experience in FMEA/DOE and reliability engineering.
The Failure Analysis (FA) engineer supports the Failure Analysis Engineering function by product process review, enhance and develop the analysis method to monitoring field quality data for accuracy and consistency. Performs engineering work in basic and applied research, development, design of new products and/or sustaining of existing products. Provides support to factory and design, giving useful feedback to help solving failures. Acts as a bridge between supplier, design, and factory.
Design, modify, and evaluate electronic apparatus components or circuitry for use in electronic equipment and devices.
Create, modify, sustain, and maintain software for testing; verify and improve test coverage.
Design and modify test fixtures to meet and improve product quality and decrease operation cost by moving detect (CA/PA) failure as early as possible.
Design power supply circuits based on previously used topologies to meet specific parameters, including loop stability, magnetic design, and worse case component analysis.
Understand new product release and engineering change procedures to support product during and after transition into manufacturing.
Participate in yield and continuous improvement action.
Perform product test field failure analysis support, simulation and evaluation, duplicate failures detected in the field and provide Root Cause Analysis and RCCA.
Attend customer meetings and present failure analysis findings, root cause, and provide effective RCCA and related preventative action.
Coordinate and deliver daily Failure Analysis WIP turnaround for daily production fulfillment inclusive of Top-Level Assembly (TLA) and In Source Sub Assembly.
Lead group of technicians and coordinate Failure Analysis output based on customer demand; provide training to FA technicians.
Establish / Maintain Failure Analysis Data pool, generate/enhance Failure Analysis Guideline to improve productivity and accuracy. Drive for Yield improvement with various departments such as Production/Hybrid/Test/Process/SQE/Quality. Quality improvement for workmanship, test coverage enhancement, test accuracy, Supplier Quality Improvement.
Communication with Product Development / Engineering team for any unknown / Hardcore failure for resolution within the shortest time.
Core player in NPI / New derivative Part Number introduction. Failure Analysis for unknown technical issue, communicate with Product Development/Engineering team for resolution within the shortest time.
Provide disposition of the defective parts in MRB meeting. Engineering decision for Rework, RTV, Scrap with engineering data support.
Custodian for FA Non-Netting Inventory. Responsible for Inventory Accuracy and requires performing the periodical inventory count upon request from Inventory Team.
Bachelor's Degree in Electronic major or equivalent education.
Above 8 years of working experience, 5 years of experience working in manufacturing technical engineering.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in technical engineering.
Proficient knowledge and troubleshooting skills in electronic circuits, components, PCBs, and manufacturing processes.
Strong knowledge in physical structure, properties, and behavior of engineering materials to identify primary modes of failure for electrical components, PCBs, and assemblies.
Engineering skills include FMEA/DOE and Reliability Engineering; certified 6-sigma or equivalent statistical, problem-solving methodology.
Effective verbal and written communication skills to clearly convey factual learnings.
Ability to handle moderately complex engineering assignments.
Ability to exercise good judgment to resolve problems.
Ability to work independently and manage many projects at one time.
