Job summary

Sime Darby Industrial Sdn Bhd is seeking a Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) professional to drive regulatory compliance and continuous improvement across business units in Malaysia. You will lead incident investigations, coordinate reporting to authorities, and develop risk controls and training plans.

The role requires strong communication and technical knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001. In this position you will liaise with regulators, implement ERP plans, and organize HSE committee

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Management, Engineering, Science, Sustainability, or related fields.
• Preferable a registered safety and health officer with Department of Occupational Safety Health (Green Book Holder).
• At least 5-6 year(s) of working experience in the related field.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Familiar with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001
• Able to work independently under minimum supervision.
• Keep up to date with ESH standards, legal & practices.

Responsibilities

• Ensure adherence to the Occupational Safety and Health (Safety and Health Officer) Regulations as prescribed by OSHA 1994.
• Identify opportunities for Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) improvement in each BU/OU.
• Coordinate HSE reporting according to the SDISB reporting matrix requirements.
• Lead and assist with incident investigations in accordance with the Incident Notification and Investigation procedure for entire SDISB.
• Act as the focus person for technical issues during investigations for entire SDISB.
• Ensure audit findings and incident corrective actions are followed up and completed.
• Develop, implement, and regularly test Emergency Preparedness and Response Plans.
• Prepare and submit HSE reports to relevant authorities (DOSH, DOE, Bomba) and act as the Liaison Officer.
• Establish and maintain risk registers, assisting with identifying and implementing effective risk control measures.
• Assist with the coordination and delivery of HSE training, including induction programs. Develop training needs analysis and training plans.
• Organize and act as the secretary for the HSE committee on a quarterly basis for each BU/OU.
• Coordinate and monitor safety culture initiatives, including: Noggin systems, JSEA, journey management, SELF program, and other safety initiatives.
• Audit and monitoring duties: workplace inspections, internal/external audits, procedure development, contamination control audits.
• Plan and promote HSE activities: audiometric testing, medical surveillance, monitoring programs, CHRA, and weekly sharing.

Emergency Preparedness and Authority Liaison

Monitoring and Auditing

• Workplace Inspections: Implement and monitor programs to ensure compliance, including PPE inspections within premise compound/boundary.
• Audit Coordination: Serve as the coordinator for internal and external audits (SSD, SIRIM, SDI Group Compliance, GCAD, etc.).
• Procedure Development: Develop new procedures and review existing procedures.
• Contamination Control: Perform audits as a contamination control auditor.

Planning and Promotion

• Activity Planner: Ensure all activities in the planner are implemented and monitored as per progress update.

• HSE Campaigns: Organize and implement HSE promotions and campaigns.

Project Management

• Project HSE Compliance: Ensure all HSE activities related to SDISB requirements are met for each tender/project.
• Prepare required documentation and meet tender requirements.
• Attend discussions, kick-off meetings, and interval meetings as required.
• Develop Project Plans according to tender and client requirements.
• Monitor and ensure all safety matters are addressed for each project.
