Job summary

Misc Group in Malaysia seeks a seasoned naval architect or marine engineer to support the Lead Engineer Hydrodynamics and deliver mooring and hydrodynamics design packages for floating offshore facilities.

You will perform calculations, drawings, and layouts, develop basis of design, and prepare SOWs for mooring subcontractors, ensuring schedule and cost targets are met.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in mooring and hydrodynamics design for floating offshore facilities.
• 2+ years on New Build Hull/conversion (FPSO/FSO, FLNG, Calm Buoy, etc.).
• Proficient in Orcaflex, Hydrostar, Ariane7, AQWA for analysis.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver engineering outputs for Mooring and Hydrodynamics in Technology – OBU.
• Define design philosophy, basis of design, functional specs and SOW for sub-contracts.
• Produce deliverables aligned with project schedule and cost targets.

Job description

JOB PURPOSE:

To provide technical support to Lead Engineer Hydrodynamics and perform engineering calculation/ analysis, drawings/ layouts and package specifications for project execution within stipulated schedule and cost.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Develop and perform engineering deliverables for Mooring and Hydrodynamics System in Technology – OBU, to ensure safe, fit-for-purpose, robust and cost-effective floating offshore facilities design and operation.


• Develop Mooring and Hydrodynamics design and operation philosophy, basis of design, functional specification and SOW for MSQ / RFQ of mooring engineering sub-contracting services.


• Develop and perform the engineering deliverables as per project planning and schedule.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum 7 years of relevant work experience in engineering design of mooring and hydrodynamics system for floating offshore facilities, including:


• Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience in design and engineering on New Build Hull and conversion of existing oil tanker to floating offshore facilities (i.e. FPSO / FSO, FLNG, Calm Buoy, etc.).


• Experienced in the use of relevant analysis software (e.g. Orcaflex, Hydrostar, Ariane7, AQWA, etc.)


• Relevant recognized qualifications – Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Naval Architecture, marine or other related engineering) discipline.
