Job summary

Airswift is seeking an experienced Hull Structural Engineer to lead and verify design deliverables for floating facilities, ensuring compliance with project objectives and industry standards.

You will review DDEs, coordinate MOC actions, support vessel inspections, and provide engineering guidance on weight management and 3D model reviews.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture or related field.
• Registration with BEM/MBOT or equivalent; PE/CEng preferred.
• Minimum 8 years in hull structural engineering for floating facilities.
• Experience with design reviews and MOC processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead preparation and verification of BOD, Basis of Design, Functional Specifications, Engineering Calculations, MTO, BOQ, and SOW for Hull RLEC.
• Provide specialist support for vessel inspection and assessment programs.
• Review Detailed Design Engineering packages from subcontractors for MOFF compliance and regulatory obligations.
• Coordinate modifications to subcontractor DDE deliverables and support MOC approvals.
• Contribute to 3D model reviews and weight management activities.

Job description

• Lead the preparation and verification of project-specific Design Philosophies, Basis of Design (BOD), Functional Specifications, Engineering Calculations, Material Take-Offs (MTO), Bills of Quantities (BOQ), and Scopes of Work (SOW) related to Hull Structural RLEC activities, ensuring compliance with project objectives, operational needs, and relevant industry standards.
• Provide specialist technical support for the planning and execution of vessel inspection and assessment programs, ensuring accurate evaluation of RLEC conditions and suitability of candidate vessels for project application.
• Review Detailed Design Engineering (DDE) packages produced by subcontractors and specialist consultants, offering timely technical input to ensure adherence to MOFF standards, project specifications, operational requirements, and regulatory obligations.
• Coordinate and manage modifications to subcontractor DDE deliverables, conducting technical assessments and recommending appropriate actions for Management of Change (MOC) review, approval, and implementation by the PMT, Client, and relevant authorities.
• Contribute to 3D model reviews and weight management activities by providing reliable engineering information and technical guidance to maintain design integrity and project compliance.

Requirements

Experience

• Minimum 8 years of experience in hull structural engineering and design for floating facilities, including hull appurtenance structures such as mooring porches, riser balconies, and related structural components.
• Minimum 2 years of experience involving the engineering and design of new-build hulls and/or conversion projects of existing oil tankers into floating production facilities such as FPSOs, FSOs, or FLNGs.
• Hands-on experience and proficiency in relevant structural analysis and assessment software, including SESAM Genie, SACS, FEMAP/NASTRAN, ABS FPSO Eagle ISE/TSA, MARS2000, VeriSTAR HULL, or equivalent tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree (B.Sc. or B.E.) in Naval Architecture, Civil Engineering, Marine Technology, or another relevant engineering discipline from a recognized institution.
• Registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM), Malaysia Board of Technologists (MBOT), or an equivalent recognized professional engineering body, with at least Graduate Engineer status or equivalent.
• Professional Engineer (PE), Professional Technologist (Ts.), Chartered Engineer (CEng), or other recognized professional registration is preferred. Possession of a Practising Certificate will be an added advantage where applicable.
